  • Hi everyone!

We're really happy to hear that you're excited about our new reward cards, Barclaycard Cashback & Barclaycard Freedom Rewards.

If you've got any questions or would like to know more just let us know!

    Thanks, Richard.

    Hi Richard,

I have a question actually. I applied this morning to change my current card to the cashback card. When will I know what is happening to my account? The form to facilitate this was rather short and it just said we'll email you or something after.

  • Is the first statement period always about a month and never just a few days or some other random period?

I'd like to make sure I apply at the right time so that in future years my annual travel ticket renews in the anniversary month.

Will additional card holder cards automatically be reissued?

When I applied it said they would send the card so it would be with you when you after your next statement it said this would mean the card was with you in between 5 and 35 days. So I presume they do this so when you transfer you have the whole new months spending to get cashback on (and ease their transfer process).

If you live/work in London, one way to achieve your 15 spends a month if you are short, is to top up your oyster at a rail station (you can do choose any amount between 5p and £50)
  • na.. ill keep my 7.9% platinum card.. should i ever need to make a large purchase i can pay off over a few months at a low rate, doign that on the cash bard card would be costly.
If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've been on the look out for a good money back card, and as an existing Barclaycard holder (i.e. I can just transfer my existing account without a credit check), this is very good indeed for me, especially as I tend to use my cards to pay for one or two flights and one or two hotel stays per month for work, which will be my largest purchases each month and attract 2%.

Can I ask Barclaycard Company Representative a quick question please - do the 15 transactions have be in Sterling / in the UK, or are all spends eligible?

Your credit limit will remain the same. The interest rate on your account may change if the APR you have currently is lower than that of the new products. Although we cannot guarantee that you can be transferred, we only perform a small amount of internal checks for transferring your account to another product so it is likely that this will be possible.

If you've requested to transfer your account to one our new reward cards then you will be receiving a letter or email from us soon. Normally, it will take up to 45 days to transfer to a new product as we make the changes on the day your next bill is produced.

Your first statement month will be the same length as all other months. Your first statement is produced no earlier than 25 days after your application is approved. If you're account is being transferred then this will happen on your statement date so you will have a whole month to use the initial cashback bonus on your top 5 transactions.

Thank you for your comments about our new card. We can confirm that only purchases made in Sterling will accrue cashback. Non Sterling transactions are treated as cash purchases on all of our cards.

We hope that we've been able to answer all of your questions, if you'd like to discuss any of them further, please let us know.

    Thanks, Richard.

  • On the freedom rewards card will we earn points abroad? Also will my two additional card holders cards automatically be changed over as well and are we eligible for the £30 voucher thing for spending £500 as existing customers?

    Hi reclusive46,

Cashback is earned at any retailer on all purchases. Eligible purchases don't include cash or cash like transactions such as balance transfers, insurance premiums, interest, default charges, other fees and charges, any item charged to your Cash Balance (such as Gaming or Cash-Like Transactions), refunded purchases and purchases made for business purposes.

    Thanks, Richard.
