Ive tried bus stops :eek:supermarket, (rare) nights out. Im not comftable going to a pub by myself and I think a group of girls sometimes puts men off?
Im an outgoing kinda girl, love a laugh, but at 45 and broke its just not that easy.:(
Most men around my age are either Married, Gay, too much baggage or just want to sleep around.
Im not after marriage or children, I dont want to mother someone elses children, I dont want one night stands, just a nice, easy going chappie....youd think it was easy, but its not!
If anyone has a magic recipe please let me know!:blushing:
Your outgoing, like a laugh, great possitive things.
I have never tried it but why do you think there is such a big market today in dating sites? People work long hours, have less money etc and to be honest the days are gone of just marrying a guy in your village.
Try speed dating, treat it as fun, go in there with nothing to loose and put your most outgoing fun head on. Think of it like a Christmas Party where you talk to all new people you have never spoken to before. If its absolute crap at least you will have a fun thing to tell your friends about!0 -
I have everything i ever wanted in life. A husband, children, even grandchildren, dogs and a house and ive hardly worked a day in my life outside the home but am i happy? No, not deep down.

I know this is just some internet forum so I really dont want to sound as if im coming across in the wrong way, im just trying to be positive.
I think this is more a "let it all out" thread. I know you mean well but I'm not sure if it's the right thread to be giving out advice on.
Edit : I haven't put that very well and am happy to stand corrected but I hope you get what I mean.0 -
please, dating sites???? as you say, you have never tried them. My advice is, unless you have 3+ hours every night to sort out the pervs, dross and liars, then dont. Its like a full time job and I already have one of those!!Sealed Pot Challenge 5 #1440

I cried when I turned 30 and I know a few friends who did the same on their birthdays. I guess I just felt like I should have achieved more, been happier, looked better lol.
Many years later and I still haven't achieved much and I certainly don't look better but I have tried to change my outlook to find happiness where ever it can be found.
I remember my boss had a calendar with a new saying each day. I stuck one to my monitor so I could read it every day. It said "it is never to late to be what you might have been".
It hasn't made me change much but I don't worry so much about what I should have done with my life. Most days I'm quite happy to look at the kids and feel such an overwhelming feeling of happiness but that's usually when they're asleep lol.0 -

LOVE that! I have one on my monitor that says "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life"....Sealed Pot Challenge 5 #1440

Sorry but I dont entirely agree with the "lifes what you make it" and "if you are not happy do something about it" way of thinking. For some people its just not that simple.
In answer to the original question - no I am not truly happy with my lot in life. My son has serious health problems and I am a full time carer who spends 90% of my time at home looking after my son. Not a lot I can do to change that although I do try and make the best of it.0 -
I agree that life is partly about luck and not always what you make it.
To those saying health can be surmounted, in many cases it can, in others it cannot. Generally its not healthy imo to dwell on what we do not have or to take too much pride in what we do.....someone in a catatonic state can hardly be taken to task for their lack of drive in life for example!
Vestanpants, meeting someone doesn't mean your life would be as planned. She might have been infertile or become ill, ot you might have suffered either of those too.0
