Actually my parents went away to Ibiza a few years ago and took (and paid for) my sister. I couldn't afford to go so i stayed home. It didn't bother me.

It's hardly the same is it. You're an adult who can pay their own way and chose not to spend money on going on holiday with them. These are children OP is excluding.

Fair enough, that was YOUR choice not to go. I don't think these kids have a choice in the matter.

I think the 16 year old at least certainly does have a choice.
  • I have 2 children, 1 from a previous relationship and 1 with my current partner and i dont belive that it should be all or none. There is a 10 year age gap between them so not all holidays are suitable for both, sometimes we all go on holiday together and sometimes 1 or both of the children dont come.

Well I have to say, I have 2 kids, my daughters didn't get on to well with my now partner. When we went on days out she was always invited even though she didn't join us. She resented me an I just had to put up with. It took at least 5 years ( she is now 22)for her to come round. I just always let her know I love her. Good luck

It doesn't sound as if they've been invited. It sounds as if their mother is really looking forward to the time away without them.

My children do not want to spend any time with me:(

    Are you surprised?

Given the information on this and your other thread I wouldn't want to spend time with you.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

    Why ?

He/she is part of the family, why shouldn't they go away with the family ?

That's kind of the whole point. He isn't being given a choice, he's being excluded.

There's a pretty good chance, as he doesn't even get on with OP or her OH that given the choice he may well have opted to not go on their happy little jaunt. But he isn't being given the option, he is being told he can't go.

Because s/he's old enough to a, be left on their own and b, understand that they don't always get what they want. It does matter that they've had holidays in the past and should think themselves lucky.
