That's the name which was used on posts to ZappiDeals Facebook group.0 -
hi
i have been following the post after purchasing 4 ipads (for me and other family members) on sunday, i obviously was extremely concerned about the situation after reading all the posts on the forum - i made these purchases as an NHS employee in good faith. I sent the site an email stating i wished to cancel under the distance selling regulations and had no response, spoke with the bank who advised it was purchased by debit card and there was no way to stop the pending payment. The bank stated that it would pend for 6 days before going back into my account.
However checked this morning and the funds are no longer pending and have not been taken out of my account. I have cancelled my debit card to try and prevent them from taking payment again in the future tho the bank state this actually no guarantee.
Hopefully other people will be as fortunate as i have been, and i have all fingers crossed that this will be the end of a horrible situation! Just wanted to let other people know there could still be a positive outcome :-)0 -
Best advice to anyone who has ordered and the payment is still pending is close or freeze your account imediatly, that way if the payment is pending they cant get there hands on it. Same thing happened to me 2 years ago with festival tickets, my bank said they couldn't reverse the transaction, so i closed my account and opened a new one. And fraudulent company couldn't get there hands on the money
This is the best advice possible, as long as no payments have came out your account and you freeze, when they go to take the money the account will be closed.
Good luck people, also if purchases were made with Credit Card you will be protected, contact you card provider. I fell victim to this companys samsung galaxy 3 con and my credit card company sorted it out. You have greater protection with credit card.
If payed with debit card freeze account just to make sure, as long as payments hasn't been processed.
Alsoi read through from the start here, all the best advice is provided.
Good luck people and let me know how you get on.0 -
You can even keep with the same bank, just close account and open a new on with same bank, a wee bit of hassle but better than being out of pocket.
Thats the safest way for peace of mind.
PS this company is fraudulent, so dont buy into there terms and conditions, the only terms they have is to rip people off.0 -
not to disagree with the previous poster - but my bank (Halifax) advised not to bother closing the account as the payment was already pending and therefore available to the company to claim - closing the account wouldnt change that or stop the payment from leaving the account. They said cancelling my card was sufficient and i could keep the same account as it was my card details they had and any subsequent requests from them on that card would be declined. Hope that makes sense.0

I ran up £40 of phonecalls when it happened to me and everyone told me different advice, i eventually got someone who was on the ball and freezing the account was the best option, i am with halifax also ( bank Of scotland ) They gave me the same advice they gave you, thankfully i didn't listen to them and closed my account. I would ask to speak to a manager or the fraud department and explain, if the account is froze there is no way they can get the money.0 -
Just phoned bank there, they said go into your bank, the girl understood what i was saying.
Over the phone they have no power to freeze account she said, best bet is to go into branch and explain. If money is pending and not been took out its your best chance of stopping these crooks.
I can only explain from my own experience, and it worked for me.
Best of luck. this is what i would do personally without a doubt.
i was told to cancel card to at the time, and i later found out that it was really poor advice, i'm glad i listened to my own instincts.0 -
i think half the problem seems to be the conflicting advice from bank staff around how to deal with this sort of situation. i called them several times also to try and resolve it and stop these fraudsters from getting their hands on my money!
Fortunately the money is now in my account - the pending payment wasnt taken, but i may still pop into the branch tomorrow just to double-check that cancelling the card itself is enough - obviously i dont want to rely on this and then go back in a few days and find they have been able to take the money after all!
However if this did happen - i would go in and out through the bank for giving me rubbish advice! surely they would have to take some sort of responsibility at that point for telling me to do the wrong thing!
Thanks for this piece of advice - the whole thing has definately made me think twice about buying online!0 -
please report your bank via the financial ombudsman 0800 023 4567 it takes 2 minutes. i was given the same advice....."the payment is pending there is nothing we can do, that payment has already been authorised" i was so annoyed and that was in the branch speaking directly with the manager!
This was following a conversation with the banks fraud helpline (a call centre) who simply advised me it was my fault as i entered my card details willingly and didnt i think to question how good a deal it actually was. not helpful at all!
if all i had to do was close my account at that time i will be furious, my payment is still pending, i will close the account tomorrow, thanks for this advice0 -
Update
I rang the dispute line today at Lloyds bank and all they said was that I have to wait 15 days before i can open a dispute.
In regards to closing my account/cancelling card/freezing card, is it the best thing to do.
Has anyone actually cancelled their card, check their account maybe an hour or so later and has seen the pending payment removed and your balance is back to what it should be?
If closing your account actually works then I will do this tomorrow.
BUT!
What if you close your account and the money still goes out?0
