I really think there's a lot of people in this society whose god is money and money alone, and that they would be happy to see a nation of latchkey kids for the sake of saving some of their own precious little pennies. THAT, to me, is scary.

Oh rubbish, your gripe and that of those like you, is just an idiosyncrasy.
I've spent years working and paying taxes and I've never given a **** about people on benefits living off 'my taxes/work/money'. There's more important things and more glaring misuses of taxes to be worrying about!
I think the absolute breakdown of society, people's lack of morals and selfish me me me attitudes can all be traced back to the feral underclass who see having kid after kid paid for by someone else as their god given right.

Although I also think the OP is possibly a TROLL....one thing I think that needs to be said in regard to some of the replies is....I too do not see why its so difficult to consider working, I was a single mum of 3 for many years and worked and there was not the financial help available then like there is now for people in that position.
    BUT
However I find it a bit harsh when people slate others as benefit scroungers/being funded by ''them'' as tax payers etc.,....yet I have no doubt that at least a few of these people/familes are recieving CTC/WTC incluing help towards their childcare.....please remember there are people out there in employment, not claiming any benefits, CTC/WTC etc., who are also ''funding'' you

The OP is full of holes - 8 hours a day without my daughter (spelt differently when the issue of Dyslexia came up) - that doesn't affect how you spell a word on each day of the week. they are at school for 7 (ish) hours - now OP finishes at 8pm.

More holes than a highlighting cap.

And many of us have never claimed a penny - worked since our children were young (over 8 hours a day) to pay her lifestyle.

That said - the more they post, the more inconsistencies arise so I am sitting on the troll step with them them BUT there are many who do think along similar lines out there in real life.

It isn't sarcasm, the poster is pointing the OP in the direction of using the GCSE she took 5 years to get, into a job using said GCSE.

"OK, so now you've managed to acquire a whole GCSE in art in the last five years.."

    Not sarcastic? Really? :rotfl:

I really don't think that's the primary/only source of society's problems. A lack of morals is one of them, I agree. Having children - if you're prepared to be around and make an effort to parent them - and taking help OFFERED by the government are not.

She should be applauded that she has taken 5 years to get a GCSE, what is wrong with that? A few hours studying for said GCSE around her working hours is a huge thing. OOOps, there were't any working hours. It should have taken a year then, or maybe 2.

But everyone is playing along with the 'troll' by replying, yes?
It's giving me some good laughs anyway. :rotfl:

You don't think terming it 'a whole GCSE in art' is sarcastic?
    Are you trolling? Seriously?

  • Well in 5 more years she may have acheived her ART GCSE via grafitti on the loo walls or something

    You are missing the point.

In this country, benefits are very generous to people who have children. Yet a national charity is fundraising for kids in this country who apparently don't get a hot meal everyday (they obviously forget about the free school dinners they get 5 days a week).

Throwing more money at the parents won't make an iota of a difference, it;s HOW the parents CHOOSES to spend the money the get for the children that is the problem. Too many think cigs, beer, mobiles and bingo is more important than feeding and clothing their kids.
