I was sort-of-responding to some of the ridiculous commentary around the paralympics.
'Look at what disabled people can do' -> 'the nonolympians are all workshy scroungers'

    http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/344254/The-Paralympics-show-up-a-corrupt-benefits-system

Sorry - another paper I don't read! So it went over my head...

I sort of agree with the sentiment - being disabled doesn't stop people, but we live in a society where a lot of people and employers think it does. We can only have a just society where disabled people can contribute if the rest of society stops seeing them as a problem but an opportunity. That said, I agree that it takes more than the government attempting to force people into niches that don't fit them. If the government truly wish to help disabled people into work them their target needs to be employers - not people with disabilities. The vast majority of people with disabilities would chose to work if they could. The biggest barrier is employers - not their disability.

This is why there should be no child related benefits or extra paid when going on to have more children with no intenion of supporting them.

I would imagine the OP has had 5 years on IS, plenty of time to update their skills and find a job they like. Given thats more than 4 years longer than maternity pay that most mothers get then moaning that they are now being presured to work is a tad ungrateful to say the least.

I truly hope its a wind up, bringing a child into the world to gain money and to get out of working is so very wrong.

Well that's not the way it currently so tough, get over it!
I think a lot of this sort of attitude comes from pure jealousy.
If someone has children and is supported by the state AND is a good mother/parent, then FINE!

OK, so now you've managed to acquire a whole GCSE in art in the last five years, just get a part-time job that requires those skills.

Is jealousy the best word you can come up with? Oh my goodness, there is NO hope for society in this country.:(

You forget the "state" is people out working, not just shelling out kids to multiply the benefits. Who in work gets a pay rise from their employer everytime they have a kid?

Although I also think the OP is possibly a TROLL....one thing I think that needs to be said in regard to some of the replies is....I too do not see why its so difficult to consider working, I was a single mum of 3 for many years and worked and there was not the financial help available then like there is now for people in that position.
    BUT
However I find it a bit harsh when people slate others as benefit scroungers/being funded by ''them'' as tax payers etc.,....yet I have no doubt that at least a few of these people/familes are recieving CTC/WTC incluing help towards their childcare.....please remember there are people out there in employment, not claiming any benefits, CTC/WTC etc., who are also ''funding'' you

Is there any need for the sarcasm?

Of people lazing around, watching 42" tvs and living off 'MAH TAXES!'.

Oh rubbish, your gripe and that of those like you, is just an idiosyncrasy.
I've spent years working and paying taxes and I've never given a **** about people on benefits living off 'my taxes/work/money'. There's more important things and more glaring misuses of taxes to be worrying about!

It isn't sarcasm, the poster is pointing the OP in the direction of using the GCSE she took 5 years to get, into a job using said GCSE.
