Geez Miss Piggy, I cannot beleive what I am reading... I am on ESA at the moment currently going through an appeal but am also fighting opposition from the job centre because I actually WANT go to work.. ESA is not an easy ride and as for DLA forget applying for that as you have to jump through hoops to get payments or ATOS to even do your medical properly.
It is people like you who have lazyitis and think that hardworking people should pay for you that give the genuinely sick a bad name as workshy scroungers! fwiw I actually have Hypermobility, Lupus, and also Depression which might actually hold me back unless I can convince future employers that I am actually well enough and my past is in the past where it should beOf all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most£2,960 in debt to RBS paying off at £10 a Fortnight0 -
the fact is the op doesnt want to work and is here to try and find ways of getting out of going back (if she even had a job before the birth of the child) to work what she wants to hear is...
thats a great idea have another child then in two years have another and keep going for the next ten years because we as tax payers will love to fund your lifestyle and when you get to three/four kids we will also give you a big five bed house free of charge on us too
at the end of the day people have to work for the system to work you have had five years off so now is the time pay back into the system0 -

instead of paying £1000 per month on childcare why don't one of you work part-time or try and work opposite shifts. your twins might like seeing more of their parents and you would be better off financially. Don't understand this obsession of how many hours we can work a week to show what good parents and role models we are when our little kids are being shunted off to childcare every day for 8 or 10 hours or wrap-around care at school from 8.00am to 6.00 pm. What is there to be proud of there? It's a damn sight easier to be off to work at 8 in the morning and leaving someone else to look after the kids than entertaining toddlers all day.
We don't 'shunt our kids off to childcare because it's a damn sight easier'... we do it because we chose to have more children (didn't expect twins though) and wouldn't dream of not supporting the family WE CHOSE to have...!
And pray tell... who would pay the bills and the mortgage...? What a fancy free fantasy world you live in...!!! Oh yeah, I forgot... I should let everyone else work and foot the bill...!
We work hard so that our children have amazing quality time with us as well as a roof over their heads...!Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...! Homer Simpson0 -
my point was that both parents don't have to work full-time and incur hefty childcare costs to prove they are good parents. one of them could work to provide the money to home, feed and clothe the children and the other could be at home and look after their emotional welfare which is just as important surely.
We couldn't afford it... we would only have enough to pay the bills... just! What kind of life is that...? Having read both of your posts linked to mine on page 5, it's probably fair to assume that you're a stay at home parent on benefits who has no idea what it's actually like! Enjoy your tea... I paid for it...!Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...! but you said your wife's salary paid the bills and mortgage and you were left with £200 after you had paid the childcare fees or maybe I misunderstood? So if one of you worked part-time you would have lower childcare costs and might have more disposable income at the end of the month0

A lone parent on Job Seekers Allowance will not be expected to take up a job if appropriate childcare is not available and their availability for work must take into account their childcare responsibilities.
Lone parents with children of 12 or under will be able to specify school-hours only jobs without it affecting their benefits.0 -

Silly you - wanting to work
In other words - I agree with your sentiments and admire your determination. If it is any help at all - there are still plenty (but not enough) managers around who do think the past is in the past. And some are even willing to consider the present as not being a total barrier. Don't give up. If you want to work, sooner or later, that's what you will get. Where I work we have a busy and stressful work environment. We also have a good percentage of disabled workers, who cope admirably well and we wouldn't want to be without. We see the skills and experiences people bring, not the "problems". You aren't a problem - you are an opportunity! Good luck in your search for employment - but I think you'll only need a bit of luck, because the wanting to work means that sooner or later, you'll get what you want.0 -

My wife's salary JUST about pays the bills and mortgage... if I only worked part time we would have less money. I wouldn't be spending money on childcare because I wouldn't be earning any...???!!! So we would be worse off... £200 left is very little! Besides, our children are looked after for 6 hours a day. Their development is phenomenal, they enjoy nursery, we have quality time when they aren't in nursery and we work hard so that they can have good quality time with us.
What gets my back up is far too many people condoning the behaviour of others who simply do not want to work and are quite happy to sit back and let the taxpayer fund their 'redbull and Jeremy Kyle' lifestyle...!Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...!
