Is it worth changing the rom and if so which ones the best one where everything works please?
Ha thought so...
As above I have been using B940 all along, its easy to install, debrands the phone and has virtually no 'extras' installed that you could get from the Play market 'if' you want them, and you can install/uninstall those apps as you like.
When someone like Vodaphone put an app on they put it on the secure system side so you can't get rid of it without rooting the phone.
B940 all works well, no crashes or slow downs. It is an 'official' G300 release, its just one by a foreign phone operator that is a lot more on the ball than the half hearted effort churned out by Vodaphone here.
I think it safer than some of the (quite possibly excellent) ROM's cooked up by enthusiasts on Modoco, could be bugs in them down the line..0 -

I see there's an option to upgrade the firmware upgrade and system software upgrade in "online upgrade! Has anyone tried this rather than change the rom please?
It will keep the vodaphone branding and apps. A LOT of people unhappy with it. Voda released it a while ago, then withdrew it saying it had bugs.. they have now re released it with little sign of change, all the faults still seem there. I wouldn't!0 -

+1
Just install the Velcom ICS its smooth and has a lovely splash screen0 -
Cheers again sillygoose. I'll upgrade later to ICS via the link you suppled in an earlier post.
By the way, does it matter what the Buildbase is? Mine is 109808
I've already rooted my phone but have yet to do the CWM. Is it needed / worth it please?0 -

You rooted already? well upgrading to ICS will wipe out the root (and CWM), if you decide to root after ICS you must use an ICS Root utility NOT a Gingerbread one, its in this thread somewhere...
Only advantage of rooting ICS in my opinion was easier to fix the dictionary which is faulty in ALL official ICS ROMS! it can be done without though.
Its best to use the full update method as documented, people doing upgrades by rooting then CWM had broken wifi issues, doesn't happen with the simple full way.0 -
Thanks again sillygoose0

In what way do you hate it? ... I have not seen what the Voda version looks like but its basically Android 4 (ICS).. is that what you don't like or the look?
You can change a lot of things..0 -
I definitely wouldn't upgrade to the Vodafone ICS. I too hated it and couldn't wait to get GB back. I posted a link to downgrading earlier in this thread if you do a search.
The GB I am on now is actually better than the original one and it has massively improved the battery life. I have gone from using about 50% battery a day to 20-25%.0
