    Update worked really well thanks.
Very slick. Does anyone know how to get the weather app that was on gingerbread as default on ICS?

Did you do the voda update or the one I suggest via SD card? presume my one or have voda removed it on their version?

anyway, download the file from here to your pc

download the file and just copy 'TotemWeather.apk' to your phone via usb or put onto your SD card. In file explorer click on it to install. It may ask for permission, if it doesn't work you may have to settings, security and tick allow install of non-market apps (you can switch it back off after.

This should be the original weather app. Gives you widgets to use.

Also to add... its possible that the update doesn't like going over a phone already on a ICS version. SEE HERE for file to get get back to original stock vodaphone 2.3. and then try the ICS from there.

Also been suggested that turning off fastboot in settings before flashing may help.

    Hi Sillygoose,

I know you posted the above over a month ago but could you please let me know the problems with 'going over a phone already on a ICS version'

I have the Vodaphone ICS and want to load your version of ICS. I see Deanos tried to do it and failed.

    Thanks,

Never found out what the problem with Deanos was, so I can't be sure if it was because he had already used an ICS version or something else - it was just something that seemed different to others whom like me were all going from stock 2.3. - I wondered if somehow the 4.03 upgrade retained some element of 2.3 it needed - seems totally unlikely. (I still think maybe a issue with his SD card or prep.)

In theory - I can't say I have done it but the option to go back to 'out the box' stock 2.3 first then doing the ICS upgrade should cover anything.

It should even sort things if it goes horribly wrong. The full forced update (both volume keys held, update folder) rewrites the lot.

The change from 2.3 to 4.0.3 is pretty drastic, the whole memory layout changes - this is why I like the full method rather than installing utilities to flash in parts.

As the SD card full update overwrites the lot in one go, in principle going over one ICS version with another should work fine.

PS - I wish I could take credit for the version (940) but I can't. When I got my G300 (that very night) I was doing all the rooting stuff ready to try some roms, bad idea at 2am! I messed it up on one step and bricked the phone, wouldn't boot.

So then I started looking for a way out and this ROM had just been found and appealed as it appears to be a later ROM and Kernel yet an official release by a well known Network but with little customisation.

It fixed my phone and having used it for work and play for some time and finding it about as good as it will get for the G300.

Open the zip file and extract just 'TotemWeather.apk' out of it, copy it to your phone via usb or put onto your SD card. In file explorer click on it to install. I never saw the original one but the one in the file I mentioned above I understand to be the original 2.3 Huawei one.

It has a choice of two widgets showing todays weather, when you click on it it goes full screen and some surreal music plays, clouds go by in the background and it shows 5 days weather - can anyone confirm this is the original Huawei one?

Weird - link won't work here...

People may not have noticed, in ICS you're no longer stuck with the fixed buttons along the bottom. Don't use the stock browser? just hold down on the icon and chuck it in the trash! (don't worry it will still be in the apps list, you can put it back again easily) then say you only use Opera you can drag its icon to the bottom row and it becomes a sticky on every home screen page then......

I use Opera Mobile too - I like that it wraps text to make it easy to read forums and articles

Save yourself some money and download the free 'WhatsApp'
As long as you are connected to WiFi you can send texts and pictures free by using this app.

Tesco charge 25p for each picture don't they?

Where can i find this app is it via google play?
