Ive now finished my ice cream update.

Been playing with the phone for an hour.

No problems. phone is quicker, its louder and pictures are clearer.

This phone is a real bargain for an occasional user like me.

And i have payg ovio so i have paid nothing for calls in 4 months.

    through the phone itself.

took about 40 minutes as had to do 2 downloads.

just needed to go to the part of the phone that checks for any updates.

the updates were there, so started the downloads without any hitches.

The 2nd download did take an age.

Yes, the last three digits are 940, Android vers 4.0.3 and the splash screen is the one you mentioned.

Maybe, a fresh install checks the phone and sd cards for the latest version and installs that. Anyway, its working well.

I've moved over from a HTC Wildfire so this is a big step up.

However, two things I can't find are the front page clock/weather widget

That will have been an HTC enhancement - I am using weather forecast widget works fine.

and I used to be able on the HTC to use a small widget (Horizontal bar) to list my latest calender event (Hotmail). Do you know where I can find these. They're not listed in my widgets settings.

I am using Smooth Calendar to provide a widget that has upcoming events in summary.

I've dl'd MX Player and it played the video of an MVK file perfectly but the sound keeps dropping in and out every 10secs. Might just be the MXK though. I'll try another one. The PQ was amazing though.

Great, I am convinced its the safest ICS version, only bug I know is the spellchecker but that seems to be an issue with all versions, I can point you were to get a fix if it bothers you.

In MX player you can try the settings, it has options for software or hardware decoding - some may give better results. Is your movie on the SD card? if its a slow card sometimes you can get drop outs because the card is too slow to read. Can test for this by temporarily copying to internal SD memory.

I installed 3d weather clock which i like

I dont have many widgets on mine, in fact 3 screens totally empty - but i use my calendar all the time so on the right hand screen i use a full screen widget of the calendar, both the calander and widget are already installed - my calendar is linked to both my hotmail calendar/events & my works gmail calendar and it displays events from both which is great

also like that i can view it by month or by event
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Battery watcher widget is solid and spot on.

Opera Mobile Browser is the best one by far.

If you have a wireless enabled Epson printer this app will let you print direct from your phone to it.

Quickpic is far better than the stock photo viewer (don't forget to go into your camera app and change the setting to save photos on the external SD)
