No problem, I thought you had installed a cyanogenmod version already? having some issues?0 -
I'm having difficulty staying connected with my Orange SIM. My G300 is Tesco/Vodafone unlocked via the Hong Kong contact.
No problem at home, where the wifi works off my broadband connection. When outside the house, I lose the phone connection. I thought at first I was in a poor signal area but it happens every time and I have to try to reconnect afresh.
When all else fails, read the instructions! Checking the manual, para 7.1.1 says:Checking the Network Connection
1. Touch > Settings.
2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Network Settings.
3. Touch Network operators or Access Point Names to check the network
connection.
Your mobile phone will automatically read the access point settings from the
SIM/UIM card (if any). For this reason, do not change the access point
parameters; otherwise, you might not be able to access network resources.
Help! How do I enter the Orange APN settings? (Normally I reconnect via Network operators / Available Networks.)
Thanks.0 -

are we talking data or telephone calling? if data see below.. if calls not.
This sounds like the 'may incur charges' notification issue. Try this test - at home with the phone on wifi, screen on go a walk until your out of range of your wifi. A message may pop up saying something like 'connecting to mobile data may incur charges do you want to connect? yes\no) If you don't answer yes it will not connect to mobile data. You have to go into setting and do it manually again.
This is an (incredibly annoying!) "feature" introduced in Android ICS by those bright sparks at Google.
If this is your issue, two ways round it. if your phone is rooted a five minute file edit disables it nicely. If not you can use a connection manager app to switch between mobile data and wifi for you in the background.0 -

It doesn't have the wifi or volume bugs and no one has messed with it or tried to tune it up. Generally it has been stable over long periods with no crashes or slow downs.
I am quite glad now, I just bought a spare phone for my wife, a San Francisco II that had already been flashed with the popular Fish&Chips ROM. Its still taken quite a while to fix the known bugs and undo some of the creators customisation not to my liking.
My phone has been rooted but the bootloader left alone didn't bother with CWM Recovery either.
It does have the spell check bug, easily fixed if the phone is rooted by copying a couple of files over. Doesn't even have the huawei weather widget, but thats easily found and put back if wished.
Hi after using the B940 and spell check update for around 4 months on my G300 with no problems just now have a problem
The spell checker/dictionary has disappeared altogether when I text.. I've looked to see if there is a way i've accidentally switched off the dictionary but couldn't see anywhere I might have done it..Any ideas at all?? Many thanksThe Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -

Hmm maybe just the spellcheck app locked up. Make sure fastboot is off in settings (fastboot stores the current state of the phone so it restarts as good, or bad as when it shutdown). Power off. Power up and leave the phone a good couple of minutes untouched to give everything time to start up nicely.
Check settings? ... Settings - Language&Input -
Spelling correction ticked.
click on the menu button to the right of it - Android correction, click on the icon to the right - Language - select use system language.
Exit out..
Settings Language, check its set, mine is set to English (United Kingdom)0 -

Forgive the newbie question, but are the file edit and connection manager app solutions simple? I think my G300 is rooted. I did an update using an earlier link in this thread (sorry, not sure which one but it was probably via huawei.com). I still get the Vodafone logo when switching on.
Thanks very much for your advice.0 -
Cheers. Took fast boot off but did not resolve. What I did find out however that the spell check settings had been disabled and have reset them and dictionary now working..First time I've had a problem...great phone!sillygoose wrote: »Hmm maybe just the spellcheck app locked up. Thanks, sillygoose.Data certainly, possibly calls too. (I must try to call again.)After about 20 metres outside, I got something like 'connection lost' and then 'page not available'. (It was a browser page showing traffic news.)

OK after you went out range of your wifi your phone would switch to using mobile data but there would be a break before it realises it needs to and it logs into the phone network, this is normal and could be a little while. So what happened to your website is to be expected.
If after say a minute the mobile data icon didn't show a connection and you could then click reload your web page and it came back that is the 1st question... is data switched to come on automatically
Under settings - wireless&networks - more - mobile networks - data enabled is ticked?
Then..
If you switch wifi off in settings you should then get a symbol or little letter appear above the signal bars in the top bar indicates a mobile data connection present.0 -
£85 on the Vodafone site...You can get the G300 on Amazon now, £100 and you can also get the G330 for under £200 from sellers I think shipped from Germany.
Still £65 ish via very.co.uk after discounts as per my first postWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

You can't switch the warning off although a later/hacked version of ICS have disabled it, along with working dictionary
