I'd rather not have the notifications start pinging in the middle of the night or the light flashing.

You can of course switch it to silent overnight. Or (shock horror) even switch the phone off?

As above, logging out of your account is a bit drastic! If you want automation use a free app like this:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antonc.phone_schedule

You can easily set it to automatically say switch the phone to silent mode at 11pm and back to Normal mode at 7am. The LED would still flash when there is a message but it would be quiet. (put the phone face down?)

Thats handy ...so when you open the app does it still show you as logged out or does it try to log you back in when it syncs

The app shows you the sign in screen (which is what i wanted)

The problem for some people regarding turning phones on silent is missing any emergency calls that may come through.

Or maybe those that are on call 24/7 etc
It's not just about the money

    True.

I think that app I mentioned can just silence notification tones, leaving ringer volume still up.

You can get the G300 on Amazon now, £100 and you can also get the G330 for under £200 from sellers I think shipped from Germany.
  • I have this phone and im sure someone mentioned a while ago about how to switch of the message you get when going from wifi to internet. I cant remember the exact wording of it but its something along the lines of enableing inernet will lead to traffic? Ive done a search and read through a lot of pages but cant find it. Anyone help? are you on ICS (android 4) ? assume you must be as your other problem was only introduced on that. Therefore it will be the minor update they are trying push to you. Go to Settings - about phone - first option online update.

As to the annoyance of the message switching wifi to data, depends if your phone is rooted if so there is an elegant fix if not it can still be done but in a different way using an app instead.
