Well the stats for today so far are:

    Mobile standby 37%
    Android System 24%
    Phone Idle 22%
    Wi-Fi 7%
    Display 4%
Voice Calls 4% (just two short calls made)
    Maps 2%

GPS is on, but does not seem to be a big power drain. Wi-fi is on. It has now been on battery for 5h 12m and has only 36% charge left.
These figures start from a full charge this morning.
Does the haptic keyboard being on make much difference?

I recommend that you try an app. like BetterBatteryStats - it lets you see what is holding wakelocks. Wakelocks stop the cpu entering deep sleep states and hence drain the battery. May be your problem and certainly worth checking.

Me too, even though I have screen on full brightness with a long time-out, bluetooth is never off.

I only switch on wifi when I want to do something on it, same with mobile data.

I only switch GPS on when required too.

I do make lots of long calls (usually in car so using bluetooth a lot) and some times watch full movies (90 minutes+) and even then it goes a couple of days at least.

Also it charges so quick - at most mine is plugged in for a couple of hours (I never leave it overnight charging) the super long life is one of the most astonishing thing about the cheapo G300 for me.

I am thinking Macman has an errant app or a duff battery maybe, I would try some full charge/full discharge cycles (leave it running playing movies).

Also sometimes Android battery calibration can get confused so it may not actually be as flat as it seems. There are apps on the market to easily delete the cal file and force android to make a new one. Worked wonders on my ICS tablet which had the problem of 'apparent' short battery life. (only catch is you need rooted phone)

It was doing this from day one before I even installed any apps (other than the pre-installed ones). The battery is definitely discharging as indicated, because the phone is shutting down when it gets to about 2% charge left.
Today it's also locked up 3 times, and it's impossible do restart it except by removing the battery (is there another way to restart it-holding the power button down has no effect)?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

PS: apart from the above, I do like the phone!
On another subject, can anyone please suggest any software to synch contacts and calendars to it from Mac OS X.6.8?
I've tried Nova Media's iHub Basic on the Mac, and their iHub Basic Android Client on the G300, but it doesn't work. The latter is supposed to work on any Android phone running Android 2.2 or later (mine is 2.3.6), but it doesn't. I've asked Nova Media tech support, but no response as yet. It's a beta program that just says it has been tested on a Samsung Galaxy S.

Locking up is worrying too! (mine NEVER does that :cool2: either).. do you have an SD card installed? might be worth checking its OK, if its one of those faked size ones it can cause a lot of hassle.

Yes, I do, an ancient 2GB one from my old Nokia. I'll pull it and see if it improves things. Was going to replace it with a higher capacity one anyway.

  • Good call from sillygoose; it could be the ancient SD card. Have to say my G300 never ever locks up and the battery life is superb (I have Easy Battery Saver app installed and on Intelligent Mode). If removing the card doesn't solve the issues I suspect you may have a 'dud', macman.
