Honeydog. You have a valid complaint. The postie will get a talking to hopefully. And that's probably all that will happen if he's lucky. If it's a delivery office that is over staffed then maybe the worse outcome could be that he would be sacked.
It just takes one bad postie to give all the others a bad reputation. As I said before, we've got one like that at the moment, and I feel like grabbing him and shaking the sh from him to wake him up (felt like that when I was working with him too btw). He walks around in a dream world most of the time4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

These days some toilets have lids that you can use as a handy device to keep your parcels out of the bog.
As for the OP - I know that the only person at home was in the bath at the time but I'm curious to know whether that person saw the postie leaving the scene? The only reason I ask is that I wonder if it might have been possible that the parcel was delivered to your neighbour (if you'd happened to be out in the morning?) and that it was a neighbour who lobbed it through the window? I may have missed something that indicates that it was 100% definitely the postie. Presumably the OP didn't get a red card through the door earlier in the day to indicate this.0 -
Mazza - I suppose the outcome of what happens to him/her will depend on his previous work record. He may well be a relief chap who genuinely thinks it is OK to deliver parcels by chucking them through a window. Or he may be a work-shy slacker who couldn't be bothered to do the right thing. Or he may be on his final warning for previous unacceptable conduct. Or just a well meaning bloke in a big hurry. Who knows.
I do know it has put me off ordering anything breakable from Amazon when the method of postage is likely to be Royal Mail!
Doc - the postie was not seen as bathroom window faces a different direction but there was regular mail in the porch which had come through the letterbox. The post was amazingly late that day even by RM standards. I'd taken the dog for a walk about half 3 and the post hadn't been delivered then. Sometime between 3.30 and 5 when I got back the post had been delivered and the parcel thrown in. But if the postie had left it with a neighbour then they should have left a card to say that they had done so and there wasn't one.
Will update when I hear something from RM. They said 2 to 3 days in the no reply email I got.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

That's all and good, I thought special deliveries and recorded's weren't included in the scheme? Over to custardly on that one
I'm a wee bit out of date since i retired
Edit:My mistake
*Special Delivery™ and items sent from abroad that require a signature are excluded from Delivery to Neighbour.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I had this problem as well, which I was slightly annoyed at as the item was breakable (luckily it was ok). The postman then began to put our parcels through my neighbours open windows as ours were closed . Understandably the neighbours weren't at all happy and gave me huge amounts of grief over it, they even went as far as threatening to write about the company the parcels were from in the newspaper they worked for. :rotfl:0

Our postie hasn't 'signed' on my behalf for anything until a couple of weeks ago, when I ordered a set of private plates online.
They arrived a few days later but I was told at the time of ordering that I'd have to sign for them when they arrived.
Well, I found them posted through my letter box with a message from the postie saying he'd signed for them on my behalf (with a nice little winking face smilie next to it).
I don't mind this at all, infact on this ocassion it made my life a bit easier, but I'd have been worried if it had been anything breakable. Luckily in this case it wasn't.0 -
Reply from RM today. Requesting parcel tracking number. Instead of giving a dedicated email to reply directly to - they asked me to fill in another 'report a problem' form but to add a reference!
Why not make a simple telephone call to get that information? I suppose it buys them more time as they won't get around to looking at that form til the middle of next week. Nice one RM!
Will update next week.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

just to be clearI have complained and will update this when I get a reply from Royal Mail. I have asked for a copy of the electronic signature too.
You made a complaint regarding a recorded item, part of the complaint was to see the signature(which you can track on RMs site yourself)
but didn't give them the details to do so?0 -

1) I didn't know that info was available online and the chap who emailed me today didn't bother to tell me.
I have just put the number into the tracker and got
COME BACK LATER
Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent first or second class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.
Information on your item is not yet available online
2) My email on the 5th was just a general outline of my issue. I didn't think it would be that difficult to find out who delivered to my street at the time specified and on the date given. I assumed that they would simply ask him/her about it.
I also knew that they would contact me for further details but assumed that I would be given a direct email address to reply to rather than having to fill in another general enquiry form.Or that they would telephone me to discuss it.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
