Thats right...get the guy disciplined when he was just trying to do the right thing. Once that has happened, everyone on his round will be found getting up early on saturday morning to join the queue down at the sorting office..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Hi,

so you got your parcel, what's bugging you?

But he didn't do the right thing. I'm sure that it doesn't say in his little postie handbook...

Rule 71a if your customer does not come to answer their door forge their signature and throw their parcel through the window.

The right thing under the circumstances was to a) leave it next door with our lovely neighbours or b) drop a card through the door. Simple. If he or she can't cope with that then they shouldn't be a postie at all.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

    Hi,

You've read the original post and you still don't understand where I'm coming from?

Under those circumstances I wouldn't bother your head with it at all. ;)

  • Well, hopefully from now on you'll just get a note through asking you to collect your parcel from the sorting office, I know what I'd prefer.

So you are in a trial leave with neighbour area?
If not, then I should think you should choose follow the rules or not.
    Not pick and choose.

Life would be much simpler if posties followed the rules.
Yes it would royally !!!! people off.
mean more failures for incomplete deliveries
more trips to DOs etc but then everyone would have the same situation and know whats what (RM are as guilty of muddying the waters on this as posties!)

    to your original point.
Delivering through a window isa not delivery spec, nor is not obtaining a signature

We had a leaflet about delivery to neighbours the other day. I thought it was a foregone conclusion not a trial but there you go.

I wonder what will happen if something is damaged while it is in a neighbour's possession eg kids trash the parcel or whatnot. Or it gets stolen from neighbour's house. Wonder who is liable?

I'll be happier with these small Amazon parcels when we're able to collect from local shops etc. It will be more convenient and a lot less hassle. I tried to do that for this delivery but it seems not to be available in our area yet.

    Hi,

The package could have been a breakable item. How would you feel if you ordered something that was an antique & easily breakable (for example) . Postman throws it in the window with a 5ft drop - item breaks, you lose out on the said item because of the postman.

I realise this wasnt the case in this instance but it could potentially happen.

We got one of those leaflets the other day as well. I've opted out. I'd rather collect my stuff from the delivery office than have it left with neighbours. Plus my OH works nights so he'd be less than pleased if the postie was waking him up every day to take in other folks parcels etc.

My local 'distribution centre' must be the size of a caravan. My postie doesn't even try to deliver parcels. All I ever get is a red card through the letter box, even when I'm in the house! This means that I need to go and collect each and every parcel from the post-office. What's the point in their services being paid for if you have to deliver the parcels to your own home?

Add that to the fact that my incredibly grumpy local 'postmaster' (or rather arsemaster) has put up spiteful signs in the post office that read along the lines of 'Every time you buy your tax disc online a post office closes'. I was considering telling him that every time he opens his mouth he loses a customer.
