Royal Mail Signed For parcel thrown through open window!

Hi,I had a delivery from Amazon late this afternoon. It was a recorded/signed for parcel which one would assume required a signature from someone at the address.
No one here signed for the parcel as the only person who was in at the time was in the bath!
Why didn't 'only person' answer the door if a parcel was expected?
The parcel was thrown through an open top window and landed on the floor with an almighty crash!
Jings, almighty, what were you getting, hope it wasn't damaged.
So as well as leaving parcels with neighbours,
acceptable, where I live, trust each other,
they are now presumably forging signatures and hurling parcels through open windows!
Unnacceptable customer service. I have complained and will update this when I get a reply from Royal Mail. I have asked for a copy of the electronic signature too.
Yes, quite, why should they deliver?
Not impressed and I paid for the delivery it wasn't free super saver.
Eh, you got delivery.
Going to report them to Amazon as well.
Wow, I think you've got an attitude problem, hope you don't work with the real live public.0 -

if I'm expecting a parcel and have to go out, I leave a wee note on door to say leave in garage, if it needs a signature, my neighbour will do, as I do for him.
Gosh, you folks must live in some rough dodgy areas when you can't trust your neighbours, or for that matter, your local postie.0 -
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I must admit I don't see the point in asking for the electronic signature when you know nobody signed it for you. Seems a bit of a waste of time. I assume the postman just signed it for you. Mine does that all the time. The upshot of this complaint will be you annoy your postman and I wouldn't like to do that! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. We don't have 'a postman' we have lots of random people. When they changed their working conditions for the worse a lot of decent posties had enough and walked away and got other jobs.
If my insisting that someone does the job they are being paid to do upsets them - so be it. Maybe he/she is in the wrong job. Or needs re-training or whatever.
Tis the nature of MSE that on any given thread half the people will 'get' what the OP is saying and the other half just won't.
The point of the electronic signature request is to see whether he signed it as if he was me or whether he used his own name. Signing for someone else is only fine, if as in your case, it is accepted by both parties that this will happen and the customer is OK with it. Also placing a parcel in a shed or outbuilding by prearrangement is totally different to hurling it through a window. There are plants on the windowsill he would've had to have thrown it clear of those which is why I say hurled rather than dropped.
We'll just have to agree to differ on this one I reckon. Obviously your experience of our postal service is different from mine. Experiences affect feelings which drive behaviours. Basic psychology.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I imagine he just used an illegiable scrawl. It's difficult to write on them.
Could have been worse, a burglar could have come through the window. Sounds like the person in the house wouldn't have noticedThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The window opening is too narrow for someone to climb in. The doors were locked.
For what it is worth, the person in the house was in the bath.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Anyway it will be interesting to see whether Royal Mail share my view that what happened is an unacceptable practice or share the view of several of you on this thread that 'anything goes'.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Amazon Packages don't have the standard red/orange "Signed for" stickers. Amazon put them on their own shipping label.0

dome idiot postie once chucked a parcel through the window, didnt even knock. The window was the loo, i was sitting in it and the parcel landed on my head..
Lucky i was sitting down, otherwise the parcel would have fell in the poo bowl.0
