  • After a while of lurking... May I join? We have a date! 5th September 2015. :j
So far we just have the venue booked and my shoes, lol!
Sounds like our budget is going to be a bit more than some here but we've prioritised on venue, food etc because we really want all our friends and family there. Am hoping to find lots of good ideas for money saving on other things! And I'm going to try to be creative for things like invites and table decorations. After the home-made Christmas card fiasco though I'm not too sure.

Next on the to-do list is photographer and DJ. Then it will go on-hold for about a year whilst I finish my masters. (Working full time and doing a masters part time leaves no spare time! And fiance has already said he's not interested in carrying on without me, funny that!) Hopefully that will get the main things and the ones that might get booked up out the way and leave relaxing times ahead. :)

Fuzzy duck, I love Ironfist shoes :D Will he budge at all on the amount he wants to spend on it?

Purple_runner The more the merrier and congratulations :D

I've got a confession to make...I bought my ring yesterday! I didn't plan to, but it happened and I'm really pleased with it :D It was a lot more than I wanted to spend, but it's perfect. My engagement ring is a really unusual shape, so it took a lot of trying on of different rings until we eventually found 'THE ring' :) As Fuzzy duck experienced, we were told it may not be there as the shop change the style of rings they carry very often. My OH and I went off for lunch and discussed it, and decided that I'm going to be wearing it for the rest of my life so it has to be something I'm really happy with...and it's just perfect...it sets my engagement ring off perfectly, it sits perfectly next to it - and the one they had in stock was my finger size! It's kinda like it was meant to be. We paid a deposit and are paying the rest of it off over the next 12 months. It's a long wait until I can wear it, but ultimately I'm very happy with it.

  • Hey purple runner, I'm the 4th sept, nearly date buddies! :T

Well done dingle-foot on your rings! When I got my engagement ring, they showed me a gorgeous wedding band, with diamonds. Its €540 so gonna have to think hard, mainly cos I want the OH to have enough in the budget for a good ring for himself! :o

Thought I would show you guys the diy invite I thought up yesterday, if I can get the picture to attach!

  • Wooo how exciting tatabubbly!! And your invite looks beautiful. That is the type of thing I was thinking of with the lace bits. What have you dont for the inside? The last few invites I've received were stuffed full of info about directions, hotels etc in various pockets or attached with string (if that makes any sense). Would a piece of paper that was loose be ok? I don't think my craft skills would stretch any further!

Congratulations on getting your perfect ring! How lucky that the one they had was your ring size :D I hadn't even considered that the wedding ring needs to fit alongside the engagement ring :o I might just switch my engagement ring to my right hand when the time comes.

I can't see him budging regarding the honeymoon to be honest- I'm hoping I can cut down on the cost of the wedding and the honeymoon regardless though! I'm just going to take it as a money saving challenge I think :)

Well, nearly all of our guests are local so will know where to go, was thinking of adding maybe a loose piece if people need directions.

I'm going to get inserts printed out and was thinking of using a small bit of double sided sticky tape to stick it and put some of the lace sticker on the top and bottom to complete the look.. Am I utterly mad having this planned out in my head already?

Also, I seen 210 favor boxes for roughly €20.. Now I wasn't going to do favors cos at home the boxes were so expensive but I could stretch to spending €50 on them if I got the favor boxes at that price where I am right now? :rotfl: My small budget is getting bigger by the second..

Thank you tatabubbly and fuzzy_duck :D

That invitation looks really pretty too :)

We're trying to work out what to do for a reception/who to invite at the moment. OH doesn't seem to think this is particularly important at this point - but wants to arrange the reception. I think this is important and something you need to know to be able to work out what is cheapest/best for a reception though?

  • Morning all.
This is my 1st visit to this site this morning and very 1st post, Aargh!!

I am also going to be 2015 bride. We got engaged July of this year after 7 years together. It came out of the blue and had never really considered getting married.

After being asked loads by other people what our plans are and do we have a date i have decided to start researching and looking to get organised.

As it turns out my initial ""didn't think we would ever get married" has turned out to be a complete lack of desire to plan a wedding after looking online , in shops at general wedding things! i am absolutely out of my comfort zone and have no idea how to even go about planning a wedding.

I love the idea of being married to my other half but am completely freaked out about a wedding day, its costs and being centre of attention.

Anyway that is me. Hoping to learn a lot on here and hopefully make everything go as smoothly as possible. xx

  • Hi all
Can I join too? I'm a 2015 bride. We have been engaged for 4 years! We have found our venue and once I have insurance will be paying our deposit! I have arranged a meeting with a photographer, but that's about it! How's everyone's plans coming along?
