I went into phones4you at end of July and upgraded my orange mobile contract being very clear to sales person that I had to stay will orange to continue my free broadband. There were other providers who could do package (minus free broadband of course) cheaper but I stuck with orange to keep my free broadband. Phones4you salesman made phonecall to orange to sort it I'll out for me. I signed contract written by Phones4you stating the number of mins text and internet I got per month stating free broadband as well and monthly fee. I didn't receive letter from orange stating I was losing my broadband but got one telling me time running out to keep it (dated Sept 12) and giving me cut off date of 6 Nov 12. Do I have any claim against Phones4you? I'm now stuck on plan paying 41 a month!0

Your mobile contract is with Orange........Phones for U are just agents for Orange
Go back to the salesperson and see if you can get a statement from him
Or log into your orange online account, on the right of the page 'explore other services'.......on that page should come up 'bundles' hit the arrow should show on there 'eligible for free BB offer'0 -
Moon777 - unfortunately the Police tend not to accept many fraud cases.
They will say this is a civil or commercial dispute or covered by other agencies for investigation, such as the Serious Fraud Office. Fraud cases, by their very nature are complex and time consuming to investigate.
Very few fraud cases go to Court and there are very few successful prosecutions. Also only a limited number of Police Officers are specially trained to investigate fraud.
So, unfortunately, investigating Oranges commercial practices is not deemed a cost effective use of Police time for the tax payer.
Sadly you are right.
But then, of course, the Police have to save their resource to hunt those reprobates who may be eating an apple whilst stationary at traffic lights, or such other heinous acts.
The egregious bankers rapacious greed, corruption and fraudulent rate fixing skullduggery, has taken millions of meals off millions of tables, led to the loss of millions of jobs, millions of frozen wage demands (unless you are a civil servant Mandarin !) and created 3rd World public services. As yet unborn generations will be paying the cost of the bankers' contrived wickedness.
SO THEN, how many of these bankers have had their collar felt by the Police ? The answer is nil, zilch, zippo. So what hope is there for action against Orange ? Shergar is more likely to win next year's Derby.
Senior bankers, senior civil servants, the judiciary, and so called 'heads of industry', such as the CEO of Orange, are what is loosely referred to as the establishment. It is a club, and like all clubs they look after their own. The courts pose little fear for these privileged and exalted club members - there is not much that a furtive phone call to a well connected 'friend' is unable to fix. As for the rest of us, we are simply their tax and revenue fodder. In their thoughts and private conversations we are simply the 'plebs and morons', albeit, the establishment occasionally let their guard drop ... don't they ?
No, those of us ripped-off by Orange's 'free for life' scam will be denied any prospect of fraud charges, and, whilst I will try the small claims court myself, I hold out little hope of success. I feel that our only solace will be the sight of an Orange executive squirming in Ann Robinson's chair, and the knowledge that they have hit themselves very hard in the pocket. That will do for me ! As we all know, reputation is everything (everywhere), and memories are long.
Apologies for the rant, I am feeling rather liverish today.0 -
I have just emailed my notice of Pre-Court Action giving Orange 10days notice until I start proceedings.0

EVa49, I wish you luck with your claim against orange.I think if as many people as possible follow this course of action we will be able to swamp orange with paper work. As a matter of interest Watchdog have contacted me twice in the last two weeks, asking if I was happy to be filmed in putting our side of the case, I agreed but have not heard from them since.I e-mailed them this week and have just got a reply stating that the filming was finished with another Orange customer and that the item would go out at the start of October.0

*Gulp* £603 to buy out my contract!0

Does anyone know how contract buy outs are calculated?
I.e is it just;
monthly cost x months remaining
or
monthly cost x months remaining + Orange magic buy out fee?

I rang 150, chose account menu, speak to human bit and asked as an inquiry - they never asked why - which was a pity as i was going to say for small claims court!
Nothing wrong with inquiring - it's not like the special team are monitoring all our activity, they probably cant even access our accounts -
ahh just seen post above -VAT, explains why my today figure is less than i calculated0 -
I would advise against anyone buying out their contract, especially if so expensive, on the hope you will win at Court.
