Virgin mobile share Orange / Tmobile network, so Virgin for everything could be a positive move.

All the contracts keep getting longer, mobiles used to be 12, then 18, now 24mths (for best deals). Broadband now moving from 12 to 18mth contracts.

Yes, lots of changes coming with BT fibre broadband available wholesale. The future is fast fibre broadband and 4G for mobile. I have always been disappointed with 3G speeds and reliability for mobile internet.

I use a blackberry 9900 and only care about calls, txts and emails which 2G works best for. Unless I want GPS info, Google maps, internet etc, then usually 3G but signal quality unreliable and can be slow!

After replying to you earlier i went to virgin site and looked at sims. Now i am really annoyed! never looked elsewhere just been on orange - now i find a one month contract virgin sim only for £7 a month gives more than the panther 15.50 i downed my mobile contract to with Orange a week ago, and for a few quid more it competes with orange 30 a month - okay sim only no mobile, but even so! - looks like i have been paying Orange through the nose on the basis of free broadband - which of course was never really free:)

    Quote from Ofcom just now.

Also, he was insinuating that only a handful of people affected have made a complaint about this. So maybe the people posting here are the only ones to have complained?

I would like to hear on here from anyone who was NOT mis-sold their current contract. Someone who was warned the broadband could be taken away at any point. This would help redress the balance and convince us uphappy ones that Orange did not instruct sales staff incorrectly or police their sales staff well enough.

    Calling CISAS now...

Its vital everyone contacts Ofcom (hence my post 702, and see what they said to me on saturday post 673) - we need them to do their job, i have been doing my best here and elsewhere to show people how easy and quick it is to use the Ofcom online form (2 min job)

Plus, if anyone knows anyone else affected by this, you could offer to fill in the form on their behalf. Not suggesting you submit multiple ficticious complaints.
  • I just saw that Tesco are doing 'free' broadband (for 12 months) if you sign up to a mobile contract of £13.75 a month. You do have to pay line rental to them but it does include inclusive calls (not sure what / when). Anyway - for those desperate to get away from Orange this could be an option. I wonder if the router in blue and white striped? :)

(and, no I don't work for Tesco...)

MEDIA attention is what is needed!

This thread was started 19th August and has now had over 40,000 hits.

Was anyone informed of their BB cut off prior to the above date??

Im not moving from Orange broadband...... that's exactly what they want us to do. I want my free broadband till the end of my mobile contract like i agreed upon. They can cut off my broadband if they so wish to.. but i have a feeling they wont be doing so.

Moving to other providers doesn't interest me half as much as it really interest Orange.

My hand will not be forced by games and lies.

The offer is for "existing mobile customers" and the £13.75 a month is to pay them for line rental. Depending if you can get a free sim card and load it up with the minimum amount to qualify as an existing mobile customer, this could still be a good deal, comparable with talktalks "half price broadband for 12 months" deal... IF you pay them up front for your 12 months line rental in advance.

And I just phoned Tesco and the assistant said that pay as you go customers would not qualify as an "existing customer", they mean pay monthly customers and to anyone else the best package is £16.25 a month, for 12 months, inclusive of evening and weekend calls to uk landlines.

The router is a tesco branded thompson router which is as good as their service........... totally crap.

I'd rather pay Orange double their £14 than go with tesco Phone and BB
