  • This is getting silly now, i'm tempted to just cancel my direct debit and tell them to do one. If they can't keep to their side of the contract why should i?

Think very hard before doing that.........it can lead to a big black mark on your credit file;)

Fitz2012 that was who I spoke with yesterday Marie, and was given the same phone number and patter..........our conversations sounded about the same ....... didn't even get a call back from the chap I have been dealing with, who is normally reliable

As I said 'mushroom syndrome' for the team in exec office, they just seem to be the front men to take the brunt of the onslaught.I think they are as embarrassed as we are angry:mad:.................and if they are not, they should be!

The highest level to which you can take your complaint and even they don't know what is happening!!!!!
  • I've already taken the chance to leave and will be on fibre broadband this time next week, lol.

I doubt i'll get what i want and that's out of my mobile contract now without penalty but i will push for it. I'm only 10 months into a 24 month contract so i cant even reduce it for another 2 months :(

Do Orange have to reply to OFCOM complaint within a certain time? Someone i spoke to at the "Exec Office" said they reply with 5 days of these, lol.

Yes they have 5 days to 'respond' but 8weeks to reach resolution or deadlock and before it can be advanced to CISAS
  • Just rung Orange on 0800 294 4747 to register my total disgust over the removal of the free BB.

I said that when I renewed my mobile contract they confirmed that free BB was included (and I've been with them since the wanadoo/freeserve days). I was one of the reasons I stayed with Orange. To my great surprise the woman replied that 'they didn't know it was going to be removed then'!

I stated that to remove it was a breach of contract. If it was removed at the end of the contract I could understand it but not in the middle of it.

To openly admit that seems to suggest that the left and right hands at Orange don't know what is going on.

I'll watch this space and see what transpires

Unfortunately, we all have to either play the waiting game with Orange and available complaints processes, both Oranges and others (CISAS, Small Claims Court) or take the decision to switch to Orange line rental or leave and switch broadband providers (both at financial detriment).

Orange are not in breach of contract until they actually disconnect your broadband. We only have threatened disconnection at the moment.

The situation is very difficult and I can understand very well if customers just agree to switch and pay Orange line rental or leave and give money to other providers.

It is worth all this hassle?!

My stance is the same as it was at the outset, this is a form of bullying at the highest level is it not?

    Now if they had approached this in a different manner;

    1) Unfortunately it is no longer financially viable, and although it was promised ect ect
    2) Maybe offered stand alone BB for a nominal amount say £5
    3) Acknowledged it had been offered at the time of renewal of mobile contracts
    4) Offered the option to terminate mobile contracts penalty free

In other words, had they have been honest and upfront, I am sure they wouldn't be feeling the fury of the backlash!

Also, the aim of this exercise seems to be control of your land line!

To tie it all up in their T&C's and lie will just give me strength to continue ....
  • The "They didnt know it was going to be removed" is their get out clause used when they increased everybody's monthly line rental a few months back.

Unfortunately in this situation its invalid as im sure it doesnt say in their terms, "we can sell you something with your contract and remove it if we feel we arent making enough money from it" and disguise it as a cost of living increase...

If Orange said our mobile minutes were going from Unlimited to 100 Minutes a month, but its ok because at the time of the sale it was unlimited.. would that roll with Ofcom... i think not.

    ...

By cancelling your DD your putting Orange back in the driver seat as your breaching contract....

    What a joke..........for a 'communication' co.:T
But, I still suspect this is connected with Orange being 'given' the 4G roll out by Ofcom in advance of the 4G auction.

And her statement 'we didn't know then' suggests to me it was a quick decision to withdraw this service!

The 4G handout was announced by Ofcom in August.............. free BB withdrawal appears to come after that.....

Don't forget they struck the deal for BT wholesale in April 2010.....and removal of Orange equipment from exchanges was completed in Nov 2011!

Ofcom said in March it was "minded" to approve liberalisation of the 1800 band, it extended the consultation period

    Food for thought!
