Orange 'Free' Broadband

I sympathise with your predicament. I don't have twins but do have two boys, so I know how much money children cost to feed, clothe etc. I will probably get my head chewed off by other more voracious posters, but I would recommend you take up the new Orange offer. I only say this because you say your BT contract is almost up and you don't really use the land line. Therefore by my (not great) mather you will be paying Orange £168 a year for land line as opposed to the £129 you pay BT but you will be getting broadband included, so in effect you are getting 12 months broadband for £39, or £3.25 a month. Despite the people flinging themselves off rooftops in rage, that's still cheaper than anywhere else. But obviously you have to decide what is best for your circumstances.
For what it's worth I have taken up the offer and have had no problems whatsoever - Orange took care of contacting BT to cancel etc.
That is true - if you want to tie yourself into a 18 month contract with the new Orange / EE - but will the future be bright? with a company that has lost its morals and alters contracts at a whim:rotfl:
I went to Plusnet on a monthly contract - because I am sure the whole market will change in the next 12 months, so i did not want to be tied to a contract. Well that and the fact I want nothing more to do with EE!0 -
just been checking on the orange broadband website and it seems they're offering evening calls and unltd bb for £13.50 per month and £5 which isn't actually a bad deal is it? and there's a £40 M&S voucher at the mo.
or are people moving away from bb on principle?0 -

Its each to their own - personally its principal for me, a company that removes a free 2nd line, raises prices mid contract, and removes free broadband for life mid contract - is not a company i want to deal with. But each to their own.
I got plusnet for 18.50 with EW calls, 60GB allowance (for 3 months then 21 a month) - but no contract - just monthly! So i am free (I also got a fixed IP address for just £5 for the duration of the contract, Orange could never get that for me, and I really needed it).
One of the issues people are not weighing up is: land line to Orange is a new 18 month contract, which in most cases will be on a different time scale to your mobile contract - making future moves/negotiations/problems a big issue.
Also - each company have different additional costs for additional services like call divert, number display etc. People need to work out their requirements before working out the best deal, do all companies include VAT in the published costs? etc! Other factors like Plusnet's English call center is a big plus for me, ISP ratings and customer reviews may be important as well!0 -

I have been told by two separate people at Orange that the new broadband contract is totally independent of the mobile phone contract, so changes to one has no bearing on the other.
Is this the story that everyone else has got? I've asked them to confirm this and a few other points in an email but they've refused saying that this is a retention offer and they don't send emails about retentions :wall:
I hate this company and would love to be free of them, but I can't afford to pay about £8 per month extra for an alternative supplier when I'm happy in general with the actual product that I get from Orange.0 -

You are correct, it IS a good deal. But as a current Orange customer I don't think we will be eligible for the above offer.
There is/was one through one of the cash-back sites giving £100 cash-back.
The offer they sent 'exclusively for me' is as fitz2012 says; £14 for line rental and alleged 'free BB' no inclusive calls.
Currently in contract until March 2014 that works out a good bit extra for me to pay, currently I get Land Line + evening and weekend calls for £14.60 with BT.
To retain my current service will involve extra costs.
However, all the above having been said, if Orange had gone about this in an appropriate way and honored their current contracts I do not think they would have had this reaction.
The fact that they have deceived, lied, broken contracts and tried to cover it all up with warped T&C's, does not instill confidence for continued business and trust.
Prior to this, I was 'reasonably' happy with the company.
Incidentally, does anyone know if BB support will be UK or India? If I even considered keeping BB I would need to factor that into the equation.0 -
fitz while I agree its about revenue not customer loyalty for Orange, as I posted earlier "non orange network" customers are still paying £10 a month, that Orange network has not existed in two years....REVENUE over customer satisfaction or loyalty.
EE new 4G network costs are a couple of billion, you need to raise that somewhere, deceitfully or otherwise.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Had this text from Orange at 10.49 am today ;
"Hello. You will soon receive a call from a newly implemented team, regarding your Broadband dispute. This will provide a resolution moving forward. Thank you for your patience - Jamie (Exec) "
So time will tell. They seem confident that they will resolve my issues and I have told them that I have no intention of moving my line rental to them ( in contract with BT and Orange service is c**p anyway ).
Will post if and when I have been contacted.SMA 4000TL Inverter, 17 REC 235PE Panels, South facing, roof angle \ `ish, 3995 watt system.Installed Nov 2011.0 -

I'd guess EE shops will move into customer care aswell as sales outlets T-Mob & O currently are, it be a waste of time and money in this new EE 4G to let third party "care" ruin the investment, but saying that perhaps stupidly BB Care will remain third party India based...SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I have been told by two separate people at Orange that the new broadband contract is totally independent of the mobile phone contract, so changes to one has no bearing on the other.
If you contract to take their offer, it will be a totally separate account, but, you get a reduced cost BB as an orange mobile customer.
Prices quoted are for customers on Orange pay monthly and pay as you go mobile plans living in an Orange Broadband network area, which covers 85% of all ...

Yet again an inducement to purchase a mobile service, however, you can have PAYG and still be eligible for reduction in BB charges.
Just need to remember if you decide to go elsewhere for mobile services;)0 -

The legal team must have advised they had no leg to stand on in court, now it is about finding a middle ground where no customers will want to persue such, I mean what company sets up a "new" team to deal with case by case issues when customer service is for that ?
Reduce risk & move forward on a case by case, whilst I applaud such the matter remains - FREE broadband removal should have been blanket introduced at the end of current mobile contracts.
"resolution moving forward" so if no Orange "offer" is acceptable to a customer (Orange landline call costs/poorer deal & contract that new customers get for instance) WILL Orange give what they should have by the T&C ? ULTIMATELY..... FREE broadband removal at the end of current mobile contracts.
BT as a wholesale supplier is not removing ADSL & ADSL max from Orange, EE as Orange's parent company & new "brand" WILLINGLY made a business decision that conflicts with UK legislation on previous Orange selling (includes re-contracting) techniques & contract breaches.
In no way at all should ANY customer settle for less than they feel appropriate for their own circumstances.
Anyone can get a injunction in court stopping Orange ceasing your broadband whilst awaiting a small claims/court date
EDIT: a good laymans terms guide of injunctions here:
