Orange 'Free' Broadband
Comments

I have been reading through this thread with interest.... we too have not had any email or letter about it ending, i had to go searching for our email address to check it as we have never used it but no email! I suspect it will eventually appear.
Had BT phone me two days running trying to get me to take broadband and the guy said well orange will be charging you from October saying because of the freedom of information act he knew this.... kindly told him that i have no confirmation of this and even if i did i wouldn't be taking bt broadband!
Your just making that up0 -
That should be their PR priority, you would think they would have prioritized resolving the issue quicker based upon that! Unless they think 30 odd thousand views of MSE is not that damaging - which it may not be if most of those views are just people loosing the free broadband. So as suggested before by others here publicity/media is required to get things moving. I will blog my story over the weekend elsewhere, and I think a few emails to the Jeremy Vine show may be productive!
Re my bold, we still have not seen anybody here with Orange PAYG mobile complaining they are losing their free BB.0 -
I too have been 'mostly happy' with Orange albeit they are not the cheapest, however, factoring the BB into the equation makes them comparable/competitive.
The 'offer' on the surface is not too bad,but what really 'grates' is the way they are still trying to fool us into thinking we are still getting the BB 'free' which we are not!
One of the offers currently advertised is Orange
BB and off-peak calls
Unlimited Broadband
Inclusive evening and weekend calls
£5 per + £13.50 line rental = £18.50
https://broadband.orange.co.uk/home
But what they are offering us is £14.00 per month line rental + Free BB no inclusive calls!
So WHERE is the free BB?
The way they have handled this whole situation is beyond belief, and in all honesty I am not sure if anything other than terminating my contract will be acceptable.
I shall keep an open mind for the time being.0 -
I too have had over 5 years of free broadband and only kept an orange contract because of it. Just had another letter (which extends til 10 Nov - so an extra fortnight of free) but my prepay BT ends next week. I just don't know what to do - I baby twins now and money is tight and I need things sorted ASAP, but can't work it out. renew with BT annual line rental, get line rental and broadband somewhere else. don't really use landline & am not going to talktalk as been bitten before - I am so sad as I don't have time and energy to work it out, and thought i was sorted2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.
Life Changing October 2011 - DF & £10000 saved - twins came - no plans
2013 - twins now 14 mths old - lets get sorted!

The BT man is LYING.
Only Government/Public bodies are covered under the Freedom Of Information Act.

I think we all know they are clearly now charging for the broadband, but at £14 for unlimited BB and a phone line, it isn't a bad offer at all and i haven't found the same for cheaper. Its just not a great offer to make to people who have had it for free.
AND THE 18 MONTH CONTRACT JUST MAKES ME SEE RED!!!!!!0 -
My point exactly!
I refuse to be treated like a total imbecile and be lead by the nose!
Is the truth too much too ask for?0 -
Broadband customers are still paying £10 a month for a "non Orange network" connection, now given BT Wholesale took over April 2010!!!
Now thats a lot of £10 per month per customer  SHOCKING !!!
Look at the terms & conditions on www.orange.co.uk/broadband at the bottom of the page that refer to different "packages" state such !!!
DATED SEPTEMBER 2010! :

(also note section 2)
Current broadband packages terms state the same:

I sympathise with your predicament. I don't have twins but do have two boys, so I know how much money children cost to feed, clothe etc. I will probably get my head chewed off by other more voracious posters, but I would recommend you take up the new Orange offer. I only say this because you say your BT contract is almost up and you don't really use the land line. Therefore by my (not great) mather you will be paying Orange £168 a year for land line as opposed to the £129 you pay BT but you will be getting broadband included, so in effect you are getting 12 months broadband for £39, or £3.25 a month. Despite the people flinging themselves off rooftops in rage, that's still cheaper than anywhere else. But obviously you have to decide what is best for your circumstances.
For what it's worth I have taken up the offer and have had no problems whatsoever - Orange took care of contacting BT to cancel etc.0
