I'm informed mailshots to OBB account customers are on the way out, the content is similar to the info available here:

    http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/phones/breakcover

I have obtained a email of the mailout script:

    superfast is on its way

    Hello (account holder name)

Everywhere Everywhere, the company behind Orange and T-Mobile is about to launch a new brand EE.

EE is the new brand for a digital age and will offer the UK's first mobile 4G network and Fibre Broadband for the home, along with the UK's biggest mobile 3G network.

your Orange broadband will soon become EE broadband

In the coming months, your Orange broadband will become EE broadband.

Everything you love about your broadband service will stay the same. The price you pay for your broadband and your plan details won't change, and you'll still get 2 for 1 cinema tickets on a Wednesday.

However there are some things that will change over time; your bills, Direct Debit and access to Your Account will all gradually change from Orange to EE and we'll let you know when these changes happen.

When EE launches, you'll be the first to know when you can upgrade to Fibre Broadband from EE, if you live in a area where it's available. Fibre Broadband from EE will be typically ten times faster than the UK average, giving you a superfast experience no matter how many of the family are online.

everything on your mobile stays the same

You will continue to be a Orange mobile customer. Your phone number and plan details won't change and you'll still get Orange Wednesdays too. The only difference is that you'll now use EE's new 3G network, the biggest in the UK and EE will appear on your phone screen.

Your local Orange and T-Mobile stores will be replaced with exciting new EE stores, giving you access to almost twice as many stores as today.

EE will offer 4G, giving you superfast internet on your mobile, making things like downloads, Facebook and YouTube unbelievably quick. To find out more, including how you could move from Orange to EE to start enjoying superfast 4G as soon as it's ready, sign up at ee.co.uk

It's going to be great, we'll be in touch when EE launches.

    Kind regards,

    Olaf Swantee, CEO
    Everything Everywhere

Terms and Conditions: When 4G launches, a compatible 4G device and plan on EE is required. Subject to coverage. UK only. Minimum term applies. Pay monthly only.Superfast 4G: just how fast your 4G will be depends on a couple of things: where you are and how many other people are using 4G too. Biggest 3G network: based on total number of 3G transmitters. Fibre: You'll need a EE Fibre Broadband plan. Subject to coverage. Minimum term applies. How fast your Fibre Broadband will be depends on a couple of things. Firstly, how far you are from the nearest street cabinet that connects you to our network. And secondly, how many people are using the network at the same time as you. Traffic management policies apply. Ten times faster fibre: based on 58.5 Mbps average speed on EE Fibre compared to the average speed of 5.9Mbits/s on ADSL broadband across the UK (source: most recent Ofcom broadband speed survey).
Browsing once you scan the QR code above may incur standard data charges.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

When I first telephoned Orange broadband team about switching to their £14 line rental offer, I asked would you send me a new bright box (to get 'n' rated wifi speed) for the new18 mth contract.

Orange said no! not on this offer, as if it's something special!!
Your livebox would have to be not working or 'faulty' to request a bright box.

Spoke to Executive Office today. They are still waiting for a response from their legal team.

Come on Orange, it's really not that difficult, someone make a decision and resolve this without delay.

That's weird they sent me one when I signed up to the new £14 line rental and 'free' broadband - the customer service lady actually offered it saying something similar to: "Is your router an old one? We'll send you a new one (Bright Box)".

All complaints are logged - I would have thought! I guess you mean those who followed the complaints procedure + ofcom complaint and have a 'case manager'.

All logged complaints will receive a call; my guess is as good as yours on their interpretation of that, nothing is implied.
My observation is, they appear to have no intention of reversing their decision across the board and their main priority seems to be damage limitation to the Brand.
The Exec Office are not privy to the resolution offers available to the 'Team'.

All the above is with Ofcom's backing; they were involved in this decision, despite the fact they are supposed to be consumer protection!

The ideal outcome would be for the company to reverse their decision for everyone and honour free BB for the remainder of their mobile contract; they did call me, to give me the outcome of the meeting.

I believe everything happens for a reason...........and I strongly suspect, and have posted as such, that Orange/T-Mobile/EE have far reaching implications/reasons for pulling such a stunt; I still firmly believe it is not covered legally, but backed by Ofcom as a 'Commercial Decision'

That should be their PR priority, you would think they would have prioritized resolving the issue quicker based upon that! Unless they think 30 odd thousand views of MSE is not that damaging - which it may not be if most of those views are just people loosing the free broadband. So as suggested before by others here publicity/media is required to get things moving. I will blog my story over the weekend elsewhere, and I think a few emails to the Jeremy Vine show may be productive!

I think they'll be tracing our ip's and putting horses heads in our beds before they offer anything of worth!

I'm sick of hearing commercial decision this week! Its become their new buzz word. They probably have it up on the wall!

LOL, the "legal team" can't trace their own change of terms around UK legislation I doubt Orange have the staff to trace IP's ;)

Buzz-word's eh ? how about, say...... Enemy Enveloping

    or

    Enveloping Enemy ?

Of course what one you use depends what side of the fence you are on....

    enveloping

    present participle of en·vel·op (Verb)

    Verb:
    • Wrap up, cover, or surround completely.
    • Make obscure; conceal.
So 1 is Orange is FREE broadband accounts, 2 is removing all traces of such T&C from Orange website & consumers & Ofcom alike.

    :D

Really the whole thing has been a commercial suicide, so much damage done to Orange/EE brands already, and one of them brands has not even commercially launched yet !

What a shower of devious Conmen Orange are.
If you needed any proof they fiddle with the web to get rid of evidence here it is.
Up until last night they were advertising "Half Price Broadband For Life" as part of their.....what for it..‘No Tricks Just Treats’ promotion.

The ad has disappeared from nearly everywhere. Looks like they failed to get to these guys. Check the link.

    and here http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/orange-reduce-home-broadband-aamp-calls
Do you think their sales folk will be ringing all the folk that took up this latest offer and clarifying what for life means?
Given their track record can they be allowed to get away with this?
A call to the Advertising Standards Commisison on Monday me thinks :rotfl:

Ive said it before and in all honesty their Broadband package that they are offering us is all in all very good value..... If i was out of mobile contract and not miss-sold it would be a no brainier. They could of made all of this so much easier.

I havent received any email or letter so does it mean I get to stay on free broadband package or is it ending for everyone....no matter what their contract says? I have had free broadband for over five years now :)

I have been reading through this thread with interest.... we too have not had any email or letter about it ending, i had to go searching for our email address to check it as we have never used it but no email! I suspect it will eventually appear.
Had BT phone me two days running trying to get me to take broadband and the guy said well orange will be charging you from October saying because of the freedom of information act he knew this.... kindly told him that i have no confirmation of this and even if i did i wouldn't be taking bt broadband!

Has anyone else found it nearly impossible use the web over the last few days? My connection is slower than dial up, and when I speak to an Orange BB customer service rep, he checked my account, then told me, I was one of those who was on free broadband and would be disconnected soon anyway!
Impossible to stream youtube etc. And its definitely a traffic problem. Orange are throttling my broadband.
I told him, Im paying you for a service that is not being provided.
No youre not he tells me, The broadband is FREE!

    You could cry.
