To clarify things he went on to tell me no-one in Orange had the power to offer more, it was not an out sourced call centre limit.
He was also adamant that nobody has been allowed out of their mobile contract penalty free.
Please all that have, please post to the high heavens if this is not the case.
Someone is lying and I don't think it's the folk on the forum.

Feel free to pm me or post with amounts and dates!
Defending a bad business choice by Orange I can tolerate, bare faced lying I cannot.
It may well be the truth for City Park Technologies. Speaking to Orange support yesterday (it was Orange) The current offer is up to £100. The offer is ongoing.....but that manager at CPT is wrong re the £100, just the normal CSA mention it without any prompting. This was for getting out of a previous line rental agreement and you will need a bill to prove.
The CPT manager may well believe he is right as we know some staff are not being briefed that well.0 -
I wonder how much they are paying CityPark Technologies to handle this fiasco. Possibly on flat fee plus a variable rate which reduces as they get further from the £28.
Wouldn't it have been cheaper for Orange/EE to follow their own vision re "Customer trust and relevance" and actually deliver on this.
The board should be looking at its leadership team and asking big questions of anyone to do with customers.
Ralf Brandmeier : customer insight
Marc Allera : customer sales
Pippa Dunn: customer loyalty
Jackie O'Leary: customer experience and engagement
Steve Day : external communications
Stephen Harris : legal and regulatory
Olaf Swantee : overall responsibility
BTW, where are the independent directors ? Everyone has a vested interest in Orange/EE.0 -

Hi Nick,
I cannot take issue personally about `credits` issued by the `city park / special team` but I can say 100% honestly that I was given a cheque for £250 by the Orange exec office.
So, technically speaking he may be correct - unless others know different.
I have banked the cheque but have the email agreeing to the amount from exec office and I scanned a copy of the `remittance` letter that had the cheque as a `tear off` at the bottom so I have proof if people doubt my word - not saying that is the case but I have learnt that when it comes to dealing with Orange you can never be prepared enough !
Nobby.
We all know folk who have had more.
The man at CPT stated that NO ONE had had more than £28.00 and that NO ONE at Orange could or would give anymore and the matter was closed.
Utter Twaddle, and now I have the names of at least two folk at Orange who have authorised a larger payment.
As said before I will not tolerate being lied to, also told categorically that no-one had had penalty free release.
Interestingly he let slip that they have been dealing with this from day one and simply got re-badged "Special Team".
If they purport to represent Orange they should get their facts straight.
Smoke and Mirrors.
........ One has to ask why I'm an Orange customer at all:rotfl:
And so the battle continues.0 -
Has one of the big TV companies just ran a story on this? Someone mentioned it at work, but didnt know the details0

nickbirkin wrote: »Too right, but our repeated badgering of Ofcom has certainly got Orange to change their tune extend the Free Broadband to the end of current contracts (really the most we could hope for.)
Remember the first calls in August; "There's no way on earth we're going to back down on this" was the party line sung by Orange employees.
This will have been taken as written in stone by so many not as savy customers and they will have accepted the situation.
What we need now is Orange not to just offer it, not just to those% who make the most noise, but all of the 90,000 that they have affected.
100% correct Nick - I would certainly have settled for BB for the remainder of my contract - but as it was, and I quote, 'irrevocably withdrawn' never to return - they released me from my contract!
The Free for Life offering - whilst totally immoral - has been covered in their T&C's - so not a hope in hell of resurrecting that.
The fact that they are at least honouring mobile contracts is a step forward - but only for those who complain and log with Ofcom and seems reasonably pain free.
It should be for all eligible contracts!
Therein lies another can of worms for the opening lol
I am very suspicious that release from iphone contracts has hidden connotations due to some contractual obligations to apple?0 -
I have today filed papers at Northampton for compensation to cover my new BT broadband service for the remainder of my Orange contract. I will report back on the outcome0

It is clear on this forum, that the Special Broadband Team in Glasgow, have been consistent with the £28 credit.
However, previously if you were prepared to switch to an Orange land line they offered BT contract buyouts and an additional £75 credit re material detriment.
Where customers have achieved more, it is only through the Executive Office / Legal Team, who have the authority to negotiate and agree settlements.
Those that did pursue complaints fully via pre action notices etc, have achieved penalty release from mobile contracts or financial compensation.
Where this issue has become more difficult re compensation claims, is when Orange changed their position and started agreeing to honour the contracts, by keeping free broadband.
Thus, Orange are then not in breach of contract and any subsequent claims are 'weak' in my opinion. How would you start a legal claim now?
It was the early customers who I believe have achieved more from Orange Executive Office, but only because the breach of contract claims were strong and valid at that time.
Those customers who Orange have actually disconnected the broadband, also have a strong claim for breach of contract.
Everyone should take your own legal advice and I hope customers are able to achieve compensation in addition to keeping the free broadband. Good luck to all!
Hi Fitz,
I agree 100%.
I think it is worth highlighting though that for those of us who were affected from `day 1 `as it were, the whole process was much much more frustrating, unanswered emails & phone calls, letters, promises of calls from the `special team` that took 3 weeks to happen blah blah blah...we know what it was like.
The Orange stance has totally changed now, it seems straight forward now to get the `free` bb extended til end of current mobile contract. And so it should be.
I had no problem `justifying` my £250 payment - I wanted more ! - and I am sure that by me detailing all of the contacts between me & Orange in my `pre court` letter any one would see that it was a legitimate claim.
I have said before though I would rather have had no hassle and wasted time and not had the £250.

I'd second that Nobby! But in actual fact it was more like 6-7weeks!;)
My how time flies!0
