Orange 'Free' Broadband

Yes. After following the procedure described in post No 2830. Some of those who joined the forum later managed to get it by ringing Orange and mentioning "mis-selling". Either way, it is worth registering your complaint with Ofcom and obtaining your reference number.0 -
What have people been saying to ofcom etc when they phone up?0

Just say it the way it is. Ofcom are well aware of the problem.
Were you promised free BB for life?
Were you promised free BB would continue when you renewed your contract?
The free for life BB, although unethical, is covered by their T&C's - they reserve the right to withdraw any offer.
Withdrawing it mid contract, if confirmed at renewal it would continue, is a mis-sold contract and a breach of contract.0 -
I've been watching this thread closely and have got an OFCOM reference and complained to the Exec Office etc. I received a message on my voicemail last week to call Melissa on the broadband team in relation to my query. I have just called back (firstly I was told Melissa didn't work in the call centre I'd got through to so I'd have to keep ringing until I got through to Glasgow) and ended up speaking to a man about my problem. I have now switched to O2 broadband before Orange got chance to disconnect me so it is too late for Orange to honour the broadband for the length of my contract. Anyway, he proceeded to try and sell me line rental etc! I explained that I wasn't interested in this and I was aware that customers were getting their free broadband extended. He told me that isn't the case and that to have that you must sign up for the line rental package! To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement! Are these people told to blatantly lie to customers? Anyway, have got back in touch with Exec Office re: penalty free release from my mobile contract and if that's not forthcoming I will go down the legal action route!0

thanks for you reple Brake.
I spoke orange to see if the would give any good call package deals but had not luck, all the packages are the most expensive out there. Has anyone had any luck getting a good retention deal?
I have decided best to get broadband elsewhere, I thought about trying to get free broadband extended till contract end date but not sure they will do it for me as my mobile contract is not over £30 pounds per month its only £20 something. Has anyone been able to get broadband extended on the lower paymonthly contract?
Also have Orange charged anyone a disconnection fee for changing broadband provider? I worried the minute i leave they'll send me a termination fee.
Thanks0 -
I was listening on to the 5live broadcast and noticed that both of them were released penalty free from their contract and Barbara and just signed hers in may, i was wondering whether you were allowed you keep you free phone?0

In my opinion you have every right to keep the free BB. Were you warn at the time of renewal that Orange change Terms and Conditions to your material detriment? I don't think so. Therefore you too have been mis-sold.0 -

Penalty-free release means that you are free to walk away and keep the handset.0 -

no i wasn't warned when i renewed but only have a few months left, after which I will have to find a new broadband provider, so not sure, just worried orange will hit me with a termination/disconnection charge if i move the broadband.0 -

If you were told your BB would run with your mobile then you can get your Ofcom case number and ensure your contract is honoured.
If you do decide to go elsewhere for your BB you just need to get a MAC code from Orange and pass it on to your new chosen provider.
To my knowledge no one has been charged a disconnection fee - nor should they as they have given you - very short notice!
When does your mobile contract end?0
