• Agreed fitz,
It is a total PR disaster andI imagine many of us previously loyal Orange customers will think long and hard when it comes to our mobile contract renewals.
I am sure it will cost them a penny or two as well.

Just wanted to raise a thank you to those who have been in touch - very much appreciated. Special thanks to the individual who has offered to appear as a witness should it reach court...the drinks are on me afterwards (unless Orange/courts consider that an inducement to mis-represent :rotfl:

Thanks again all
I WOULD MOST CERTAINLY WOULD BE HAPPY TO BE A WITNESS IN ANY COURT ACTIONS FOR ANY OF YOU GUYS AS I FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT FAIR PLAY.

THE ONLY TIME I SEE RED IS WHEN PEOPLE CROSS ME OR RIP ME OFF.

MY INTEGRITY IS MY DRIVING FORCE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ORANGE ROT IN HELL AFTER THIS .

Totally agree - it is almost as though Orange BB & Orange Mobile are in direct competition with each other! - Crazy decisions

Just been on another website. Quote:

What is an approved code of practice?

Many trade bodies have codes of practice that lay down rules for what their member businesses should and should not do. Some trade bodies (known as code sponsors) have achieved OFT approval for their codes. We only approve codes if satisfied that they give you protection and offer you a higher level of customer service.

All approved codes that meet our core criteria include:
• a commitment to provide customers with adequate information about goods and services
• the use of clear and fair contracts
• appropriate arrangements for protecting advance payments
• low cost, independent dispute resolution if a complaint is not dealt with satisfactorily.
How to get involved

For a business to get involved, its relevant trade body must have a code of practice approved by the Office of Fair Trading. Businesses operating to that code qualify to use and display the OFT Approved code logo.
What are code sponsors?

Code sponsors are the trade bodies that act as representatives for certain types of businesses and are responsible for administering and overseeing the code of practice.

Look at the second line. This is taken from the "The Office of Fair Trading" website.

THE USE OF CLEAR AND FAIR CONTRACTS - Don't think so with regard to Orange!!!!!

I for one will not be renewing my mobile contracts with orange when they end, I don't give any companies a second chance when they play dirty tricks on me.
Orange you should be ashamed of treating customers like this.

Thought this was interesting, think I will go pay as you go, when my contracts end.

• It will be interesting to see what Trading Standards do. They have my details regarding mis selling of Orange contract via my local Phones4U shop- who are now being investigated. I am not really looking forward to the potential hostile reception I will get tomorrow when I go back to Phones4U to discuss the current messy situation!

It is not time critical I reported prior to resolution - mainly to get it passed to trading standards as they are only contactable via CAB.

Trading standards did call me back and inform me that mis-selling is a criminal offence. and dealt with by criminal law.

I was advised, going forward with a civil claim against Orange would be for misrepresentation and breach of contract.
• I sent an email to Tony Hazel of DM and the experts@financialmail.co.uk last week and included this link which was up to page 90 at that stage an requested they help but nothing from them.I am very surprised no newspaper has covered this situation in detail, especially DM as they love a good "Consumer rip off" story normaly. Makes you wonder why...eh?
Perhaps we should ALL target 1 newspaper and bombard them with all the information we have received from the little orange fairies right up to the Orange executive office and express our horror at being MIS-SOLD a mobile monthly contract and that as yet, OFCOM are not fighting our corner!!!! 30th OCTOBER is a big day for EE would love to see what the new EE customers make of it!!!!

It is a pity that ORANGE have not yet realised that MIS-SELLING will be what they are remembered for, soon to be EE. THE BANKS HAVE HOPEFULLY LEARNED TO THEIR COST. I rest my case.

I sent an email last week about this to editor@thisismoney.co.uk, which is part of the DM for the same reasons as you and to see if I would get a reply, and didnt (not yet anyway).
