I would dispute that it is 'free'

New customers with mobile contract get half price BB = £5

    LL rental to include eve & weekend calls = £13.50 + £5 BB + £18.50

Offer to customers with 'free BB' = £14.00 LL & BB and does not include calls
If you want to include eve & weekend calls + £4.50 = £18.50

Same price as any other customer***

    Unless you can negotiate

***Does anyone share my understanding that the "special" deal is not reliant on having an Orange mobile at all? This is what I understand having spoken to multiple Orange staff and from reading the limited amount of info they have sent me. They won't confirm it in writing though

So if that is the case, potentially cheaper than for new customers by whatever the mobile costs are.
  • Well my Letter finally arrived Friday, bye bye Orange broadband.

There is nothing to stop Orange revoking the 'free' Broadband offer once you've switched over your phone line to them, nor to hike up the line rental charges to whatever they feel like, or the call charges for that matter.

Not that they will be Orange anymore.

I printed out a copy of my online Account with them a few weeks ago when my parents go ttheir letter, as it showed in my account that my broadband was part of my Bundles, not a Free Offer, nor seperate from my Mobile Phone contract.

Oddly enough I now can't access my Online Account, getting the URLL wassup.orange.co.uk when I try.

I also recieved an email from Orange this morning:
Right now you're enjoying our free home broadband. To qualify for free home broadband, you need to have an active Orange pay monthly mobile plan and you now also need to have Orange home line rental. Our records show that you no longer have an Orange pay monthly mobile plan registered at your address. So unfortunately we can't continue to offer you free broadband on your current plan.

So I guess I can go and cancel the Direct Debit that comes out of my bank every month then?

Who in their right mind would stay with this shower of incompetents is beyond me.

So much for looking after their customers, 6 years of my business, and they don't even know i've got an account with them, laughable.

    To Infinity and Beyond!
  • Hi All,

Just to let you know there is definately a broadband only option available from Orange.

There is clearly confusion about this within Orange as I was told by a member of Orange CSR that it was no longer available.

However I was within `inches` of doing a deal with the exec office last Thursday where they were going to credit my mobile bill with £202.50. This was the equivelent of the 15 months remaining on my mobile contract at £13.50 per month for broadband only. In effect what I have been asking for all along.

It was at the very last moment that, despite me clarifying with the secret squirrel team over the phone & the exec office both over the phone and in email the cosst of £13.50 per month, it was discovered that due to my town`s rural location that the cost for me is an extra £10 per month for broadband only.

This equates to an extra £150 that the exec office were not willing to credit. They did up the offer to £250 but I am not prepared to be out of pocket over this so it seems legal is the only way for me.

Pre action letters sent last Thurs & Friday.

So, for some, this should be an indication that the option is out there for your broadband costs for at least this mobile contract length is there to be had. I know it`s not `life time` free broadband but it`s more than they said to me in the past.

    Time will tell .....

  • When I spoke to Orange they said that I could continue with current line rental supplier but that stand alone Broadband was £13.50 per month.

I had a number of different conversations with Orange over the last few weeks and kept getting different information. I concluded that they really only wanted my Broadband business if I took out line rental but as there so called "special deal" can be bettered elsewhere I was not tempted to move.

Like others I have had the letter / e-mail saying that I don't have a mobile phone contract - quite frankly they don't seem to have any idea of how to treat customers and retain business. I'm glad I decided to move my phone and broadband elsewhere and my mobile business will also move from Orange shortly.
  • Yes canmore boy , if you live in a `normal` area you can bb only for £13.50 from Orange - as with current `free` bb - unlimited, 12 month contract & not capped - according to secret squirrels.

I don't think they do Simply Broadband any more. I phoned up when i got "the letter" and asked for a "broadband only" price but was told that there was no plan available without line rental. My boss pays my line rental and calls directly to BT but not broadband.

Hoping they decide to re-instate free broadband until the end of mobile contracts as I didn't specifically ask about continuation of free broadband any time i've uprgraded, although I have deliberately kept my contract over £30.

You need to scroll to the bottom of the page 'More Orange Broadband Products'

However, it does say 'subject to availability'........whether that means it has been withdrawn or refers to location is another matter!

A bit odd that you cant order online for such a big communications company, click any deal and it tells you 'telephone exclusive' -

So nothing straight forward like other companies - and the way they hard sell and manipulate when you speak to them - not good. Never mind the fact anything they say is completely meaningless in the future. And it has become the norm for one dept and one salesperson to have a different response to another - a company in a chaotic mess.

Not to be trusted - ever again.

This is the REAL problem ............ every agreement seems to be verbal only! - Telephone Sales

We all know what we were promised ...... VERBALLY

How often do Orange put things in writing ?

    Free BB was for 'LIFE'

    Orange Email (wanadoo/freeserve)

Forgot to mention and some people were asking: 4 weeks after joining plusnet my wanadoo email still works in Outlook or via webmail! Not that i have ever used it, and Orange failed to communicate through it! But for those of you worrying it appears to carry on even though i now have no account at orange and can no longer sign into 'my account'.
