Yes canmore boy , if you live in a `normal` area you can bb only for £13.50 from Orange - as with current `free` bb - unlimited, 12 month contract & not capped - according to secret squirrels.

I am not in a 'cheap' area my exchange is ADSL MAX. Not good how we now have cheap and 'normal' cost areas and that those non cheap areas tend to be rural - increasing the digital divide within the UK, when the govt has promised this would not be allowed to happen. Another Ofcom failing?

My cost with plusnet for this non cheap area is 21 a month inc line rental and E/W calls (18.50 for first 3 months) - so i guess it would be even cheaper if i lived in these 'cheap' locations!

I was just having a go about different areas having different costs (LLU vs MAX etc) creating an even greater digital divide and punishing rural communities. When the govt has previously stated this should not happen. Your post just made me think of it;)

Nearly every UK landline is NORMAL, Orange handed it all to BT, Orange old LLU does not exist.

I've mentioned this a few times in this thread before but no-one seems to want to be proactive about it, so....

I just lodged a complaint in false & misleading advertising against Orange for it with www.asa.org.uk £5 "entry level" broadband does not exist, it must be with Orange line rental @ £18.50 & the "orange broadband network" LLU no longer exists so that £5 broadband becomes £28.50 for Orange mobile customers, £33.50 non Orange mobile customers as (ALL new) non Orange Broadband Network connections pay £10 a MONTH MORE - that "£5 broadband" is then the same price as Orange broadbands top package FOR THE "ENTRY LEVEL" !!!

    Misleading much Orange ?

So FREE broadband removal with no Orange Line Rental & misleading prcing = a 4G network.

No wonder VP France Telecom replaced Tom Alexander EE CEO.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Diamonds, as I said in a previous post I was offered bb only for £13.50 although it became £23.50 when they suddenly realised my location.

I am sure there are those amongst us who can get this deal and an equal credit of their mobile bill to offset the cost.

Indeed your location is not on the "Orange Broadband Network" as the Orange LLU network as it does not exist anymore...so all prices advertised are misleading & false as ALL Orange HOME products are BT WHOLESALE now.

NONE of us re-signing or new customers are on the "Orange Broadband Network" to get these prices as advertised, we are all BT resell !!!!!$, simple, we all have to pay £10 more, and why I reported Orange to ASA becuase this 15% does not exist (Kingston do not have a 15% share of the market) ;)

  • Phoned orange this morning regarding £14 a month line rental on 18 month contract, would the £10 surcharge be added to my bill as I live in a rural area.
Was told that £10 surcharge is only added if you take out a call package, if you stick to basic landline rental only from orange, then no surcharge added.
They are emailing this too me at my orange email address, the sales lady was a bit reluctant to do so, however I informed her that the executive office stated that I could have these info emailed to me stating no surcharge would be added. Also recorded call after getting the persons permission.
  • Hi Jamie,
Re the extra £10 - I was not talking about any call packages, all I was doing was talking about continuing on bb only from Orange. The extra £10 was what Orange were saying it was costing for bb in my `rural` town.No line rental involved at all.

I am sure if you are willing to take line rental from them the extra £10 does not come into play - they seem desperate to get as many residential land line as possible.

    Hope that makes sense.

Seems strange £10 is for "calling" packages.

Just think at the end of the month Orange Broadband will be EE Broadband.

From what sales told me, the line rental is £14 but as I live in the sticks:rotfl: any call packages would incur a £10 extra charge as it would cost orange EE extra to supply this service???
Similar to free sky broadband, it is not available in my area as I'm rurally Welsh...... Can't remember how much but sky wanted to charge some amount that they worked out on the random pick a
number price selector they have got :)
