You have a strong case through Ofcom Orange are trying to force you off BT Basic.

The arrogance of the French is more apparent when the Frenchman running EE shi*s all over its Orange customers...

Watchdog might make very good viewing tonight, even if its just ginger rubbing orange up the "right" way ! ;)

The trouble is, in a lot of cases oranges line rental is more expensive and carries less features.

    I have been quoted:

BT line rental + Unlimited BB + free evening & weekend calls = £27.85

Orange line rental with free evening and weekend calls + unlimited BB = £18.50

Orange have also informed me that they will pay any line rental cancellation fees I incur up to £100

Like I said I have no loyalty to Orange but after shopping around they do seem cheaper so far (for me anyway).

I do agree though, it would have done their PR more favors if they had dealt with this as peoples contracts were being renewed.

    .........

Your are exactly the type of customer Orange thinks they are dealing with...

They take something away that is contractual and just because they pitch it cheaper than anybody else then this is Ok i suppose.

We are all fully aware of the options that are out there and how they compare to what Orange are offering. This is not the issue i'm afraid.

And if you move your broadband to Orange with line rental how would you feel if half way through they vary your terms and remove the broadband aspect and keep your line rental for you line only...after all the broadband is the free part.

Anyone else had this, and what is this number. What is it they want to tell me that I dont already know, (that they are cancelling my broadband etc on the 17 november)Forewarned is better than forearmed I think:)

Though without broadband the bt package is about £14.00 a month. You won't get unlimited broadband for £4.50 a month it is true but there are many superior quality packages for a bit more.

If you are on an unbundled exchange I would recommend be broadband at £8.50 this month for truly unlimited broadband. Plus.net also do a range of deals that offer reasonable broadband for the faint of heart.

If you take the orange deal, overlooking you are paying them more than you agreed, you are tied into them for at least a year. The broadband is unlimited but rather crappy with no guarantee of being able to watch the iplayer in the evening and online video. The call charges outside your bundle are fairly high, especially internationally. Leaving them if you are unhappy may be time consuming and difficult to manage migrating both your land line and your broadband.

Without 18185 for international calls I would be financially worse off taking the orange offer even after taking into account the small saving on broadband and I would lose enormously on flexibility and future possibilities.

So all in all I would think very carefully before signing up to orange to save a few pounds. You may well regret it later.

But it is true if it exactly matches what you want now and for the foreseeable future and you make no great demands of your broadband or calls then its an ok deal for you. You could always sign up and sue them as well :)

Just a thought for the BT basic customers ... & perhaps playing `devils advocate` here but ...
I used to work for BT and I think that one of the conditions to `qualify` to go on to that tariff was that you do not have a mobile phone.

I only mention this incase it becomes an issue down the line. hopefully it will not come to that.

200 minutes a month is fine if you only use your mobile to call your nan once a week...

Some of us use slightly more.

Can't you express yourself without being ratty ?
You are putting more people off using this forum than you are putting off Orange.

Because i started line rental saver with BT a week before Orange informed me they want to move the goal posts. With Line Rental saver from BT my line and BB was costing me a total of £10.75 per month. Orange want £14 per month for the same thing. So my free broadband is now costing £3.25 and also my free unlimited calls with BT costing £2.90 per month will also be lost... which i can have with Orange if i pay an Extra £4.50...

So these so called amazing offers would cost me an extra £4.35 a month, £52 a year, or £78.30 over the 18 month contract they are so lovingly offering me. But considering i already pay for my Free Broadband within my mobile contract, a contract which has already been increased by 4.2%... i feel i have every right to be a little annoyed, dont you?

And this is all totally irrelevant as to move my line to Orange would mean i would lost my advanced payment from BT of £129 for 12 months rental. Is that a better reason? So total cost of moving = £207.30........ but its still free... I THINK NOT!
