Orange 'Free' Broadband

im not being pushed into paying for line rental with 2 companies just to still get free broadband.
I was under the impression that you would only pay line rental to one company. When I swap it will be from BT to Orange. I won't be renting the line from both of them.
@nobby 1963 "So you see IceCube, it may be straight forward for you, for me and many others it is not quite so simple."
I understand this fully and see your point. I don't believe this is the case for everyone and I'm sure many of people are getting 'hung-up' on the extra cost to them whereas, in reality, there won't be any.0 -

There will be extra cost to a lot of people. I pay £35 a month for mobile and broadband with orange. Orange want me to pay them money for a line i dont need. So therefore i need to choose a new broadband company who will charge me extra for the broadband service.
End of the day orange should have fazed out free broadband at the end of your contract (unless you where guaranteed it for life).
They have alienated existing customer's for their own greed and i hope it comes back to bite them.0 -
I had my letter this morning.
I'm going to rent my line from Orange and keep receiving free broadband. I've read lots of posts on different sites and I don't understand why people are getting in such a lather about it. You already rent your line (from someone) and don't pay for broadband. Nothing changes only who you rent your line from.
If you change broadband providers you'll still have to pay line rental and then have to pay a monthly fee for your broadband.
If you're happy with the service stay with Orange!!!!
Think you're missing the point Icecube, that still leaves you paying £30.00 per month plus for a mobile contract which is way out of line with current market offerings, a quick scoot round the net show me I can get (just one example.)
600 minutes
5000 texts
1 gb data
12 months contract
from another provider for £12.90 a month, if I go to bt for the BB thats £8.50 total £21.40 per month.
(I currently pay £31.95 p/m for 400 mins and 300 texts.)
My line rental costs me £10.75pm and they want £13.00+pm
This is why we all want out of the mobile contract, the two only worked together.
So I will thank Orange for making me move away from ALL their services and putting a tenner a month in my back bin.
This will buy me three pints in the pub, where I can sit and wax lyrical to all that listen about what a shower of inept fools Orange have been over this.
As mentioned before no one would have kicked off if they allowed us to slip away as our mobile contracts came to an end.
But they couldn't do that because they'd be sure we'd all leave on renewal, because of the un competitive rates.
Only been a customer for 12 years.
Lot said about customer loyalty, very little about corporate loyalty.0 -
You really are getting "fazed out" about this.
Why do you think that you don't need to pay line rental?
You can pay one company for line rental, use another company as your call provider and yet another company as your broadband provider. Lumping them all together is not the best option.
I would disagree. Lumping them together is a better option. but i chose to keep my broadband and mobile deal with orange. Yes i can split them but i will stay with BT paying a year up front and not be forced to pay another line rental with orange to keep my free broadband.
So now i either go with BT broadband and pay the extra or move to sky with my tv for extra after any introductory deals.
Whilst orange still want £35 a month.0 -

Can you? I thought if you bought orange line rental you then had to use orange for calls and orange for broadband. But can you still use other providers on an orange line?0 -
Final countdown.
I have sent my final written communication to EE, with a deadline and the date I will instigate small claims court proceedings.
I emailed exec and cc’d in CS and Ofcom, the subject line was my Ofcom number.
Very brief version:
I stated in the email that I first sent a written complaint to CS on the 28/8, and then detailed my other complaints to exec. I pointed out no call and no communication. I pointed out they have breached their own complaints procedure.
I then restated my case: miss sold an upgrade due to asking if the free BB would continue for the length of the upgrade, by myself and carphone warehouse, two calls in 2 days. I specified the date and approximate times of the calls.
I then restated my requirements in line with their procedures: cancellation of my mobile with PAK at no cost to myself.
I asked for the address for sending a summons.
This morning I received a reply from exec – the usual ‘passed onto a special team who be able to resolve your issue’ the reply from exec was not cc’d to Ofcom or CS
Then I received from CS:
Please accept our apologies, we are in the process of improving our e-mail service, and cannot deal with your e-mail enquiry at this time.
For the moment, can we ask you to use one of our alternative Customer Service channels, where our advisors will be happy to answer any question or resolve any enquiry you may have.
Which is an issue as someone else has been told that complaints need to go to CS, I was trying to cover all bases? So CS can’t receive complaints at present by email and EE are the future of the communications industry!
So I replied and re cc’d in Ofcom and CS (I am keeping Ofcom informed at all stages of my process so they can see how I am being dealt with as opposed to EE telling them whatever they tell them!)
I stated: I had been promised a call before but it never happened. I pointed out that others who have had the call only got move the line rental to us type conversations. I have asked exec to make sure whoever calls is equipped to deal with my requirements. And then I gave them until the end of Sunday to resolve the situation in line with my requirements, I then told them if they fail to do that I will then instigate the small claims process on Monday 8th. I also told them no need to send the summons address now as I have obtained it.
I know I will be in small claims, but thought I would give them one last chance to do the right thing!
I will be sending the summons to this address via recorded deliver:

Orange;
Mobile £30.00 ish
Line rental and BB £13.00 ish
Total £43.00 ish
Same sort of packages with other providers
Mobile £13.00 plus
Line rental £13.00 plus
BB £8.50
Total £34.00 ish
Also Icecube,(Orange flavoured Icecube?) if you'd read the thread then you'd see, most folk here are annoyed because they renewed mobile contracts, some within the last month on the basis of the free broadband and are trapped until renewal.0 -

I don't entirely agree with what Orange are doing and have no loyalty to them at all.
I currently pay around £25 per month for my mobile ( which suits me fine and has done for many years), I then pay bt line rental. I'll swap to Orange for my line rental and keep my free BB.
Also, I would assume if people have renewed within the last month they will have all the paperwork to backup their argument. If their paperwork/'contract states that the free BB was 'SOLD' to them for life then they have a very strong case to cancel their contracts early and change providers.0 -

The trouble is, in a lot of cases oranges line rental is more expensive and carries less features.0
