Are you ashamed of being in debt?

Basically our debt is down to our loss adjuster, who was responsible for sorting everything after our house burned down a couple of years ago,we were underinsured and were not told,we were told to rent a house while ours was being rebuilt, which we did,but we had to fund it upfront until the insurance paid out.We talked to our bank, who in turn, spoke to our insurance, the bank gave us huge loans and upped our CC limits to 30k each to fund everything needed, when the house was finished the loss adjuster informed us there would be a big problem as I had ticked the wrong box when filling in the online form and we only had 20k of contents cover, after all the workings out,we ended up with 4k paid back, the insurance company couldn't apologise enough and even recommended this site
the bank,well that's a different matter
So you see,it's not always the fault of the debtor, just victims of circumstances.

Ashamed of myself in real life, how I have wasted money in the past, how I have to put plans for family on hold whilst I pay all this off, how i would feel if told OH, parents or friends (they wouldn't understand) - but on this forum I am proud to be dealing with the problem.I'm moving on up now,

You may be ashamed of the money you have wasted in the past but now you should be proud that you are dealing with the debt both online and in the "real world". :j
I would think you would be suprised if you told your friends about the debt. Id say that not everyone ofthem isnt without debt and you may even find that some of them are in the same boat and are worried what you think regarding THERE debt problems.
From speaking to my friends who have a good jobs I have found that all but one of our group have debts of some type.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

I'm not ashamed of the debt... but I am ashamed of how its making us live.... and the restrictions that it's caused.
At the moment I'm more angry than anything....because due to the debt we are having to change well laid plans..... for instance... We live in in 2 bed flat, we have 1 child and really want 2 more, but we don't have the space ...so we really do need to move.....But we can't move baceuse getting a bigger mortgage with the current debt makes no sense...(beside we won't be able to afford it).. then there is the deposit, and all teh associated costs of moving..... My wife is 37 and I'm not keen on her having kids in her 40's due to the medical risks... so .................
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!! I get get more fustrated the more I think about it ....!!! then when I hear about people wasting money on silly things like designer clothes, and their so called 'life style' (and don't get me worng ....I'm not knocking nice things because I have expensive taste...but I refuse to pay over the top for anything ......ever )!!
Ok..... I'm going to stop now !!!......
sorry for ranting ....!Living with the legacy of bad decisions....but Proud to be dealing with my debts !:j Official DFW Nerd No. 3620 -
No. Definately not 'ashamed'. But I do feel frustrated and guilty that my kids have had to 'make do' for so long and the last holiday we had was over 15 years ago. My youngest has never been on holiday.
But, if things go to plan, this time next year we will be planning one. Even if its a week at Butlins. Lots of good memories of Butlins from when I was a kid. But that was sooooooooo long ago.Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -
