Incase it's any help to anyone who uses them or wants to try them, Amazon have the 20 pack of Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests for sale at the moment for £20.68. They have never been that cheap before and will unlikely be this price again. That's the subscribe and save price, but obviously just cancel the subscription after they have despatched them.

Well I had the day 21 test today (actually day 23 for me) and i'm more nervous about the results than when I was getting my GCSEs I think!

Seeing the doc next week to get them. Last month I made the mistake of ringing up thinking all would be well, and the receptionist wouldn't give me the results only said ' you need to see the doctor' which made me worry as I knew that meant I'd failed the test. So this month I will just wait until I see him.

Well I didn't get the mid cycle bleeding I got last month (on clomid) so hopefully that was just one cycle that was a bit messed up due to that.

Thanks for the PCOS advice, TCD, I often wonder if I have it but as my periods have always been regular I'm not sure I do. I'm on metformin anyway for diabetes so hope that can help in the fertility department.

Its strange isnt it, ive had two mc and two healthy pg and both times I mc I just knew something was off, whereas when I was pg with my 2 boys I just never got that feeling.

    That's interesting to hear.

Skint -that is a way better percentage!!

No massive post from me today other than list updating as I've had my scan results. PCOS and quite badly on my right side, not sure about left. My Dr is hoping to refer me to the fertility specialist but not sure if she can because the criteria is TTC for 2 years.

Becca I'm sorry you have pcos but glad that at least you have an answer & that can only lead to good things in terms of getting treatments & help. Hopefully it will also mean you don't need to wait for 2 years.

Opk's and mentioned this online diary don't know what that is?

I think patience is the best thing last time we got a + she knew before the test and she said she doesn't feel the same but is not 100% so strange one

Frustrating isn't it thanks for the replys :D

Is it fertilityfriend by any chance? If so if she doesn't mind you could post a link to her chart & we could take a look & try to help?
  • The frustrating thing about PCOS is that it's a syndrome so it's a collection of various symptoms that fall under one diagnosis. For example you might be ideal weight with regular periods but you may have cysts on ovaries, excess hair growth and acne. Basically you don't have to be overweight, suffer with acne, hairy, irregular periods etc. to definitely have PCOS- you could just have a couple of the symptoms rather than the 'classics'. I was diagnosed when my periods were regular and I was spot/hair free- I was slightly overweight but they investigated because I was having really severe pains on my right side (they hospitalised me thinking I had appendicitis when in fact it was a massive ovarian cyst). It's the luck of the draw as to whether or not your doctor will play investigate with you though... :)

That is frustrating, I'm sure there are lots of people who are overweight and don't have PCOS for example so how do they decide who does and who doesn't?
I am overweight and have facial hair, but I've always had the facial hair ever since being very young and I'm dark, from a dark family and all the women (and men!) have oodles of facial hair. I conceived my son no problem two and a half years ago and had facial hair then! So I'm sure I would tick two of the boxes but those things could be completely unrelated to PCOS.

Makes you wonder how anyone ever gets a definitive diagnosis.
Anyway on the off chance I do have it, I'm sticking to a low carb diet and trying to lose some weight. Interestingly I was at a normal weight and on a low carb diet when I got lucky last time.
  • Ah big hugs Becca, sorry it's not good news but it is good to know what you're dealing with, that way you can have the best approach possible. Do you want me to take over the lists for a bit so you can have a bit of a break? I'm happy to so just drop me a line.

Congratulations Bride2B :) great news, hope it all goes smoothly. We need a few more BFPs around here!

Hugs TL, Marie & skintchick for due date sadness. One of ours would have been last week. We'll have them for real soon though, actual due dates and baby's birthdays to celebrate :)

We had our appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic today, it was actually really positive and the doctor seemed to think that its just been awful awful luck and sooner or later we'll get our baby. It was what I needed to hear, she was very encouraging and down to earth and just exactly what we needed. Mr lemon got his blood taken though and he's a bit of a woose about it (I distracted him by asking about his fantasy football team, something he's always keen to tell me about and I never want to hear!) and I got 9 vials (!!!) to check for lots of things, hoping they're all fine but we wont know for a while.
There was some advice she gave me that might be helpful here too. She said that the most important things for a healthy pregnancy were:
    TAKING YOUR FOLIC ACID
    Not smoking
    Not drinking too much
Keeping fit and healthy (So we'll all be joining Abi's list now!)
Not having too much caffeine (i.e not 10 cups of coffee a day)
That will give any possible pregnancy the best possible chance, anything else (unless its to treat something specific obviously) wasn't too important. I know they've all been mentioned many times before but it was good to be reminded of the basics.
She also said its completely OK to get pregnant again and again in a row if you miscarry, there's no need to wait and you don't increase your chances at all of having another one. It was good to hear that.

On other news, I didn't get my promotion (which I knew because the interview for it was awful. I'm not sure that I'm going to stay and train someone else to do it though because all the interesting pieces of my work will be taken on my the new person. I'm going to see my mum tomorrow as she does lots of coaching for people going for interviews/ looking for new jobs but I might hand in my notice on Monday- I think this might be the kick that I've needed to actually make a change rather than just being unhappy at work.

Negative opk for me today and no ewcm which is strange as I usually ov on cd17. Having said that im pretty sure I only ov on cd21 last month and af was 4 days late so maybe my cycles have lengthened for some reason.

lemon that's good news that it was positive appointment, at least you and DH have nice homework ;)

Becca I asked for a referral to a gynae and not and fs to treat the pcos and they're treating my infertility so maybe try that? sorry for your diagnosis but it's definitely treatable. 're: low gi diet, I have a Collins gem low gi book on my kindle and a paper copy and it's great for introducing the concept and getting used to what's ok and what's not. though it's colour coded so not good on black and white kindles lol

ani I was told that pcos isn't completely back and white- you can have it a little or a lot and there's no real clear answer as to whether pcos causes insulin resistance or insulin resistance causes pcos. there's basically five symptoms and if you have three you have it: ovarian cysts, struggle to lose weight/put it on easily (so not just simply overweight), irregular periods, acne particularly around the jawline, hirsuitism.
when I was diagnosed I had everything but cysts and you can have polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome x
