Sorry to hear that Becca. Fingers crossed you get a referral:- I found this website [http://www.cks.nhs.uk] which details how you should be treated by the NHS for various health conditions and you CAN be referred earlier than the 18 months recommended ttc if there are other factors that could limit your fertility. I think that's how my doctor managed to refer me (I have endometriosis and PCOS). Here's the 'infertility' link: http://www.cks.nhs.uk/infertility#-296878
As an aside I found that following a low GI/ slimming world type diet, avoiding sugary foods (within reason!) and exercising (not like a maniac though) has helped reduce the amount of cysts found on my ovaries and has also reduced the symptoms I got (darker hairs, painful periods, terrible boils and cysts on my chin etc.) My last ultrasound as part of my preliminary fertility tests showed no cysts- the last one I had prior to that I had multiples on both sides as well as a lovely painful 16cm one on my right side.
Also- I don't know if this applies to you but if you have a BMI over 30 research the use of metformin as PCOS is closely linked to insulin resistance which knackers up your hormones. Metformin can help you 're-sensitise' yourself to insulin, help you lose weight and the rest of your hormones should then start to level out... Sorry if you already knew all of this. I just know that when I found out had PCOS/ endo I wasn't ttc (it was 5 years ago now) and I knew nothing about it!0 -
Congrats BridetoBe- hope we're all joining you quickly!0

Hugs to all who need them, especially Elsie, Maire and Mrs TM for bad news and / or CD1.
I've finally worked up the courage to get the US results and the good news is that I don't appear to have PCOS. However, unfortunately it's shown that I have a bicornuate uterus, and the GP has decided to refer me to a gynae to 'see what can be done'
It all sounded very ominous and as soon as I asked about the test results her whole demeanor and tone changed - don't think it's good news, although she said she couldn't answer any questions about it beyond a basic description as she's not an expert
I'm just about to send you a PM. I have a bicornuate uterus and it is nothing to worry aboutDo not panic!

Right i'm going get a telling off from you all now for being a typical bloke :rotfl:
The oh was due af on Tuesday not today done a test and it's blank but she's said she isn't feeling right i know it's only 3 days late but for the last few months she kept track and been very regular
What do you all think the best thing to do is?
Wait and if so till when?
I'm not getting my hopes up but i can't really speak to anyone cause after what happened last time i don't want the disappointment again if anything did go wrong2010 Super League Grand Final Winners :beer:0 -
Bride2b - Congratulations....:j I'm one step closer to the front on the Q:beer:
Becca - Big hugs for the PCOS diagnosis. I think TCD gave some good advice. I am sure if they found a reason why you are not concieving they will offer some kind of treatment before two years.0 -
Hi Wigan Did she definitely ovulate when she thought she did? If she definitely did then I'd leave it another week and test again- HCG should double every 24-48 hours so her levels might be too low for a test whereas you'd expect them to have risen within a week. Patience is probably not the answer you want though.... :-P0

How sure is your OH of her ovulation dates Wigan? Is she temping or using OPK's? She could have just ovulated later than she thought or she could be having an annovulatory cycle (no ovulation) which happens from time to time and is perfectly normal.0 -
Thanks for the advice.
Has hit me hard as now I know we are going to need some help, judging by my cycles.
She was good and said she will try and refer me but we have discussed private if not.
TCD those links are great thanksI knew a little about it but all the twinges I've had make sense now. Am also going to try a low GI diet now

I think patience is the best thing last time we got a + she knew before the test and she said she doesn't feel the same but is not 100% so strange one
