Anyone been in retentions discussions with CPW O2 recently? Been a while since anyone posted some hard evidence of their success! Calling them this week as my contract's a month from expiry.
Current contract about to expire is the £35 pm 18 month tariff - 600 mins (+ free 200 min bolt-on), 1000 texts - £200 cashback every 6 months working out as £1.67 pm. Had to keep the old phone which was fine.
Can't see myself getting even close to this again. What do you think?
this is exactly the same deal i had which is also just about to expire.....would be interested to hear what happens when you ring them??0 -
The best deal my cousin was offered (and accepted) is below. It's not as good a deal that was offered in January but we were advised that the deals had changed and they change all the time.
SIM ONLY
600 mins
500 text
+ Weekend calls bolt on
18 month contract
£35.00 per month
4 cashbacks at months 6, 10, 14, 18 @ £105 each
total cash back £420
Average monthly cost (after cashback) £11.66Nearly debt free

I too am coming to the end of the £35 x 18 months
600Mins, 1000 Texts + Bolt On
With £600 cashback
I was offered the same contract but with 500 Texts and only £150 Cashback
Next try I was offered same but with £420 Cashback
They're now simply adding £10 a month to what my achievable cost is
Was £1.66
Now £11.66
Not bad but if like me you've had all your previous monthly costs equating to £0 or near then it gives you a little bit more to think about
I'm now giving serious thoughts to giving up on Cashback
I could do without the hassle this year
Through o2 direct I can get 800 Minutes,1600 Texts, + Bolt On for £20 on a 12 month contract
Also o2 direct will allow me to change the bolt on, CPW don't0 -
everyone .. on the o2 600min + 500 txt £35 month
( i've also had 200 extra mins on mine )
as a few have mentioned .. last year it was £600 cashback against the £35 x 18 = £630
When i rang a month ago they were adamant that £420 cashback was the absolute maximum .
Last week was the last of my 18 month contract so rang again .. without any hassle they offerred £475 cashback
works out £8.61 a month .. which i reckon is as good as i could get on taking out a new o2 or t mob contract ... but with less hassle.
Happily agreed the offer.
and as with anyone else self employed that puts the cost through their books .. of course each months' invoice .... is for £35 inc vat .....
so in reality ultimately making money out of it !!0 -

Better than anything else out there I guess. I take it there's no new phone with that? Did you try to keep the double texts and get knocked back?0 -
MJTHFC think there still is double ... only send about 20 texts a month so didn't really take any notice !0

And keep your old phone right?
I've had my 6300 for 2 and a half years now and going to have to buy a new one. Got my eye on the new 6700. Gonna have to do some maths and see whether cashback or new phone thrown in makes more economic sense!0 -
MJTHFC no handsets involved .
Just had a look at auction site for you .. nokia 6700 on o2 for £150
How that stacks up i don't know .
Cannot get excited about handsets , my nokia 1112 bought from tesco for £9 some three years ago is fine by me !!0 -

i wouldn't get one from ebay if you could help it as a brand new one form CPW on payg is £150 (and is usually unlocked) the chrome one feels much better, you could try virginmobile and get a as new handset off them which is usally sold at half their payg price.

IMHO it's usually better to go for a sim only contract and replace the phone when it stops working, that way you get the most out of it and buying the handset seperatly works out cheaper, especially if it's on offer.Nearly debt free
