Is there a good time of the month to contact retentions to get a new deal e.g. just before end of month sales targets have be met? I am coming to end of a 12 month full rebate contract and have had 3 previous years of what has been in effect free contracts.
Cheers0 -
Hi Guys.
Just wanted to ask people whether O2 CPW cashback redemption schemes were still good schemes?
I used to have a half-price line rental which finished 18 months ago (been without a cashback deal since then), where I got all my cashback back, no problems.
Just phones through to the redemptions team, and was offered an 18 month contract, £30 p/m, 400 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited internet (capped at 200mb), and offered a £450 cashback (effectively works out at £5 a month for 18 months).
The bloke told me that it doesn't have any limits on when you need to redeem the cashback, so at the end of the 18 months, I could turn round, and send bill 6, 12 & 18 through all in 1 go, and receive the full £450 in 1 cheque. Not sure how true this is though, and wanted to check with you peeps whether you knew?!
I would've thought that they'd have made people put them in within 30 days (or was it 60), like they did when I had my old cashback. As they rely on people not claiming the cashback... So I'm just wondering whether the block was trying to fob me off, so that they don't actually have to pay my cashback, as I might send it in a little late...
Other thing which confused me, is that currently in my contract, I am only in my 17th month, and have started my new contract with 1 month left running on my current contract. So this basically means that I have 19 months left on my contract. The way the bloke said it would work, is that I would receive my 1st bill on 26th July, and this would be classed as bill 1. So my 6th bill would be 26th December 09, 12th bill 26th July 2010, 18th bill 26th December 2010. However, the way I see it, is that the last bill of old contract would be 26th July, 1st bill of new contract 26th August 2009, 6th bill 26th Jan 2010, 12th bill 26th August 2010, 18th bill 26th Jan 2011. Who is correct. I would imagine he should be, since it's them giving incorrect info, and trying to dupe people otherwise.
I have all this recorded (nice function of phones), so can play it back to the sales team if they try to fob me off... But just wondered for a bit of advice from those who are more knowledgable and organised
Thanks in advance, and look forward to responses

I made up my mind to swap from o2cpw to payg or maybe a 10quid a month voda contract.
45 minutes on the phone to cpw and numerous offers and speal about how im better off staying with them i started to realise i hadnt got much hope of getting my pac code !
i got offered the following during my call
275 min 275 Text £10pm 18month
400mins 400 text £10pm 18 month
200mins 200 txt £5pm 24month
200mins 200txt £5pm 18month
75mins 125txt £0pm 12 months
all the above do not include a handset, and are not cashbacks. he basically said that if i wanted a handest it would cost £20 a month and i could accept one of these deals and just buy a payg handset to use.
I accepted the last offer and will look about for a half decent payg handset now
why on earth ar cpw so desperate to keep customers, im only a low user anyway........ i wonder for next time, if you can write and ask for a pac code0 -
but are they desperate to keep customers?? it doesn't seem so looking at what others have been offered
feel quite lucky to have got a phone and decent tariff and at least I have a spare handset that I could sell on if need bei'm living in a parallel universe0 -
- Been an o2 customer for 2 years
- Called up and asked for my PAC
- Cant do more than 12 months because Im moving abroad in 12.
- Vodafone offering 600mins/UL texts for £15 pm SIM ONLY
- After much debate I get 400mins/1000 texts for £35 pm with £300 instant credit.
- £10 pm for enough mins for me.

From my experience of these types of mobile phone deals they are very strict and nearly impossible for fulfill from your end (you have to send a voucher in on a certain date and then they say they have not received it), you have no proof and then you never get any of the cashbacks0

I've had several cashback deals with CPW and with orange too and have never failed to recieve a cheque. You just make a note on your calander of when you need to send the bill in , send a photocopy so you still have the original and send it recorded delivery so you have proof of postage and can check that they have recieved it.0 -
Called today to cancel my contract. Straight off the bat I was offered 275 mins & 250 texts per month for £15 per month, 24 months, with a free Nokia 5800 into the bargain. This works particularly well for me as I need a new phone, it means I can keep my discounted O2 broadband, and the £15 per month is what I would have taken from Vodafone anyway. No reliance should be placed on the above.0
