I got offered some silly deals - which I didn't take up because the cashback is redemption based (i.e. you have to send your bills to claim etc.)

CPW don't make it easy for you to cancel the contract - you have to ring in advance and then in writing giving 30days notice by recorded delivery etc.

I'm beginning to dislike CPW

My CPW 18 mth contract had expired and I didn't want an upgrade. I asked the guy who phoned me if they could do better than Virgin who were offering 200 anytime minutes and 200 texts for £10 but he said no.
I asked about SIM only and he started to explain about the cashback deal. That sounds great I said and accepted.
6 weeks later... still no details of the deal(which seemed long and complicated as he explained it). No info by post or email.
Tried their website, no SIM only info. Tried O2 website, could find no trace of the sim only deal with cashback (now I've read other postings on this forum I realise its a CPW deal, not O2)
Phoned to finish my CPW O2 account and was told that I'd upgraded to an 18month contract which will take me to November 2009!
They are currently going to listen to our telephone conversation and call me back. Apparently it's called a non contract agreement and Im bound by it, although they have sent me no details as proof of our original discussion, and I'm not really able to recall which bills I was supposed to send, etc.
Quite frankly, I was waiting for details to read through and carefully consider before formally accepting, but it seems they took my interest as consent.
So BEWARE! Does anyone know if this is legal?

    Thanks, Sunnyshowers:o

Has anyone who has taken up a retention offer, received full details in the post ?

I'm interested in taking up a retention offer, but concerned they will put me on the new contract, but may not receive the required paperwork/confirmation of cashback, etc.

    Thanks

Just received an upgrade on o2 at carphone warehouse and I cannot get any reception on this phone in my home town. I have put my sim card back in my old phone and I can get reception. Does this mean phone is faultly or is it just a naff phone for picking up signals in poor reception areas.
Have been told to visit one of their stores but reception could be different there.

Ive been on a 1yr free contract, that was given to me because they couldnt beat the deal id got last year to get the N95 with vodafone. They gave me minimal mins and txt which didnt bother me as i didnt plan on using it anyhow. I cancelled my vodafone contract as id just got it to get the phone I wanted cheaper. Im currently with o2 simplicity ive got 1000 txt and 400 mins for £20 and broadband for £7.50 (which is tied into contract). Is it easy to get another free contract if you have already been on one??

They offered me the 18month 600 min 1000txt but couldnt port my number to the active account so I phoned o2 direct about my simplicity sim and they offered me a similar deal that worked out at £11pm with free internet

    A WORD OF WARNING.

I beleive ive mentioned this before, but if you are presently nearing the end of your cash back with CPW or E2save....DO NOT go into negotiations for a new contract as THEY WILL start your new contract before your old one finishes and you will lose your cashback...

I fell into this trap and my bills have changed to the new contract...They say it has changed back to the original for me to get my final cashback, but i dont believe them, as the new DD has come out of my bank....I cant find anything out(apart from CS suppositions) until my last bill has been drawn up...of course it is possibly too late by then.....so be warned....if you negotiate a new deal, supposedly to start when your cash back contract ends, i think u may have problems as, imho, the "lost" cashback is taken into consideration, in the deal they offer you...

Yes you're right, CPW are a nightmare and they will start the new contracts immediately that you negotiate them. despite telling you that the existing contracts will run to their natural conclusion. They will not properly write the terms down on paper. They do inform you that you have 14 days in which to cancel. However, since they do not send you the written details within the 14 day cooling period, how do you know whether or not you wish to cancel? It is a most unsatisfactory arrangement and one with which I wont be dallying with again.

Definitely follow the advice to ring the disconnections team as the upgrades team was next to useless for me. I was told I'd have to upgrade to an 18 month contract to get a free Wii (currently on a business 12 month Blackberry tariff with them)

Called disconnections team tonight and told him what I wanted and got it.

    Free Wii
    600 minutes
    1000 texts
    12 month contract.

Very happy as I have got my son's main Christmas present for free and new phone arrives tomorrow.
