...and the cashback can be claimed even at the end of 12 months together rather than sending cashback claim 3 times.

I requested confirmation in writing and got a letter from them which mentions £360 cashback.

Please forgive me, but I don't quite follow that. Could you be so kind as to explain it a little more clearly?

By what means do you obtain the £360? Do you have to submit claims? Do you apply for it at the end of the 12 months?

I was offered (and accepted, in principle) 11 months free line rental on a 12 month continuance agreement, with the money to be paid by means of an immediate, upfront credit to my account.

When the money had been credited to my account, I then formally agreed the 12 month continuance.

I always prefer to get the cashback paid (or credited to my account) upfront, even if it's not for as much money as they might promise me by a deferred process of redemption (i.e. by sending in claims at various intervals).

Things can go wrong with deferred cashback claims...

I rejected all the things they offered me which involved having to claim cash back! If you hold out, they will probably offer you a straight reduction on the line rental which is much better imo.

Renewed two contracts with them - one with a new blackberry 8310, 275 minutes and 200 texts, £17 a month over £18 months, and the other, no handset, 200 minutes, 400 texts and the internet bolt-on for a fiver a month on an 18 month agreement. I mentioned that I was tempted by the e2save 12 months at £1.99 offers (even though I have no intention of doing cheque back) which triggered them to offer me the £5 a month deal I accepted.

Be aware though when speaking to them that they will try every trick to get you to accept less - they kept telling me the blackberry I wanted was out of stock and offering me a cheaper one - I said no, and could I have my PAC, when mysteriously, stock suddenly appeared! Also, they started off by saying that £10 a month was the cheapest they could do, then they wanted me to sign up to an 24 month deal, and only when I refused everything that was remotely unacceptable did they come up with what I've eventually got. So if you don't like what you are offered, stick to your guns, ask for your PAC and ask for time to think about it if you aren't sure. I got them to ring me back after 24 hours when I'd had time for a ponder. They are really desperate to keep contracts going it seems to me, so don't give in to their early offers. (BTW, as others here have said, the initial offers from the sales team are rubbish, so just wait til the last 30 days, then tell them you'll vote with your feet!)

I got offered 200 mins, 400 texts, free voicemail and 1MB data for £5 a month on an 18 month or 24 month contract with no phone. Then after 1 month I can have a Bolt on of either another 200 mins, 400 texts, unlimited landline calls, unlimited 02 to 02 calls or unlimited internet.

After seeing some other threads and as I was still in my 14 day cooling off period I phoned back and see if I could get anything better.

Managed to get £5 a month 24 month contract 400 mins 1000 texts and unlimited landline calls so well chuffed as ive upgraded on my wifes vodaphone contract and got a new phone which I will keep for 2 years.

phoned up cpw O2 the other day and asked for an upgrade, had to really since it was a day before my contract ended, and would have to pay £35 for an extra month, which I am not going to do. £35 a month for 18 months for N82 . Took a sim only no contract for £20 a month, a saving of at least £15. Anyways that sim only thing starts on the 21st, do you guys wait till the 21st to ask to cancel or will a couple of days before be better, just top make sure there is at least 30 days notice.
Got my sights on O2 xda orbit 2, but guess thats gon' be expensive, so a £5 a month contract would be nice and buy my own phone.

I was offered 12 months free line rental deal, 360£ in total.

The Customer care representative suggested that instead of sending 3 cashback claims at 4,8 and 12 months, I can just send off one claim at the end of 12 months and they will still pay me full cashback.

He also offered automatic cashback without need for sending any bills but that was 10 months free line rental only.

    I hope this clarifies.

You are right things can go wrong with deferred cashback claims, but I do keep remainders for cashback in google calendar and PDA.

just been on the phone with retentions... my contract is in its 11th month so i called for "disconnection", like i did last year. i was transferred to the O2 "disconnection" department who wanted me to stay ... last year i was on a 12 month deal with 200min/200txt £30pm and £360 redemption by cheque. this year i wanted more.. so i insisted that i want to disconnect... after going through several "interesting" packages, i got a 12 months extension with 75 min and 125 txts for free / no cashback. they have promised that nothing will appear on my bill as long as i stay within the limit.. since i have 600 min and 500 texts on my primary O2 contract.. i think that won't be much of a problem...

btw i still have 14 days cool off period!

I can continue using the same sim card

    Consumer,

    Thanks for clarifying it.

I hope all will go well for you. I guess things could get a little complicated at the end of the year, when you have to claim the cashback at the same time as you are negotiating a deal with Customer Retention for the following year (2009 to 2010). But good luck to you!

I just like to know the money's safely in my account, upfront, even if it's not as much as I may be promised for a redemption cashback. But it's not as if you're dealing with some outfit operating out of a bothy in the Shetland Islands and using a P.O. Box as an address!

I did not see your message before speaking to CS, otherwise I could have negotiated upfront cashback or autocashback..

Anyways, so far in last 2 years, I did not have problem getting cashback from CPW. Fingers crossed!!!!

Did you get 75min/125 text on top of 600 min and 500 texts for free for 12 months?
