As I pointed out a few days ago, there is no indication of whether those currently on Fixed Saver v2 who 'reserve' the Blue tariff by means of signing up via the link given above, will still be moved to it should EDF pull that tariff before 1/10. I would think there is a high probability that Blue will go within the next 30 days.
And absolutely no evidence that EDF wouldn't honour their deal to those signed up. As far as I'm concerned, and the email I recieved backs this up, I haven't "reserved" anything, Blue 2014 is my new tariff and the switch will take place on 1 Oct 2012.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I tried ringing again but still could not get through (their customer service has gone downhill a fair bit recently). I used to get calls answered within 30 seconds a couple of years back.

So have decided to send an email and if get a positive reply I will do the switch now online. That way if they do try to charge me I will have some comeback.

Yes I agree, its now a nightmare getting through to speak to someone, just spent 40 minutes on hold without getting to speak to someone, before you could just phone their switchboard and get connected straight away.

Most of us that have signed up in advance would probably be of the opinion that EDF wouldn't risk the huge amount of negative publicity they would get if they withdrew a tariff that they had offered in such circumstances, from the signed up people.
Hopefully we're not being over-optimistic (with a company who can't get DD amounts right)! :)

I was advised there were NO TRANSFER PENALTIES moving from Blue September 2013 to Blue April 2014. This is in line with the initial agreement.

However there certainly are penalties for those who are with other EDF Tariffs as per their initial agreements. So double check what you are on now before you switch as they will charge these per fuel.

The exception to this would be if you take advantage of the seamless switch which is being offered to those with a fixed tariff with an end date of 30th September 2012 (not to be confused with Blue September 2013) who can apply now to go over to EDF BLUE April 2014 on 1st October.

I think this is where all the confusion lies......so some people are coming to an end of a fix on 30 September 2012 and can opt to switch over to EDF Blue April 2014 but with a start date of 1st October 2012 to avoid any transfer penalties. Even it EDF "pull" this tariff before then, I am sure they are not going to refuse those who have signed up before the pulling.

I am ok as I am presently on EDF Blue September 2013 and so have just logged into my EDF account and done a tariff switch to EDF Blue April 2014. The unit prices for gas and electric are just a tad higher than I am paying now (we are talking fractions of a penny) and the standing charges are the same. (I must admit the standing charges are quite high but you have to see the whole picture.)

The change gave me a new contract end date of September 2013 but you can leave the contract early with no penalties meaning I can still switch if something better comes along.

I am now prolonging the prices for two winters (instead of one) for just a small amount more.
  • In the same boat; fixed ends 30th Sept. I notice that Im in credit; the DirectDebits are taken in advance (not arrears). So I already effectively paid to the end of september anyway!

I cant see them charging for changing when they just written to me asking to go their website and change!
  • I have just switched from the Blue+2013 September to the Blue +2014 plan.It only works out at around £8 a year more.

How come it still says on my account page contract expires 30th Sept 2013 and yet the new plan is April 2014.I thought April 2014 is when your contract would end, after all aren't you entering into a new one by switching plans?

IME that field takes longer to update but gets there eventually. Give it a day or two.
  • Thanks for the reply jalexa..I will check back next week to have a look.
