    How i want to be.
has anyone heard of those plates you get for changing your diet(i dont mean diet in the dreaded way, lol) they have sections on to like tell you how much of each thing you should have in a meal, does anyone think that will work??
also does anyone know of a site i can go to that will help me with things to eat? i dont want to count calories or syn's and things as i want to do it as a total change not as a diet and id like to change the way the whole family eats :D

Dont know if you know but the chef Antony Worrall Thompson has just written a cookbook / diet. It is called The Diabetes Weight Loss Diet.
He has also written Healthy Eating for Diabetes.
Just thought it might be of interest to you & any other diabetics.

Yes thanks beanie, I was in the other day at WHSmith and had both his books in my hand, perusing them but a) they were very thin and b) costly and c) they had in the recipes a high fat content and was a bit flamuxed as to how he could write a weight loss recipe book and yet include such high fat ones? Left them both and meant to see if the library had them (very MSE!) but fogot....

Suggs take the compliment:D I know we are all brill, just pointing out that you are ONE of the brillerest;)

Made the coleslaw today and it did not go down too well... put balsamic vinegar in it and H says it has a bitter after taste so morrow will try again with it not in, used the hellmans extra light blue top mayonnaise, cabbage, onions, carrots, 1 tsp of mustard, 1 tsp of balsamic and some fat free greek yogurt oh and crushed black peppercorns, I love it and that could be the next addiction right there- home made coleslaw:D

I also managed to go to Asda and get the kraft light dressings (not fat free could not find fat free but very low fat ones) also bought WW ceaser dressing, put a bit on a spoon to try for me and H, he screamed that is disgusting, my kids were nearly sick and I hate it:rotfl: :rotfl:

My H is good at reading labels seeing which one is best etc and he found out today that Sainsburys be good to yourself salad dressing is better (fat, sugars etc) than WW !

If it is not hunger then let it grumble, you obviously don't need it, have a glass of water instead, that is great you can distinguish between hunger and grumbling....well on the way to the healthy eating life change exercise, eat only when you are hungry frustratingly hard work called weight loss:D

    Morning all!!!!
It's another beautiful day in the North!
Have just got back from taking the dog for his walk and feel quite positive today. May be scuppered later though as I have to go shopping to buy something smart to wear for a funeral next week and the trying on process always deflates me. I suppose its a good sign that nothing I already have looks OK as its all too big! I just hate the thing that you do when you'r enot sure what size to get so you very hopefully take a couple of sizes to try and the very optimistic size doesn't fit!
Oh well - will report back later to let you know how it goes.

Had a good day with food yesterday had all free foods all day (including yummy mexican bean soup, loads left for today too) and just two glasses of wine - it was Saturday!

Have a great day all - I'm going to try and spend a bit of time outdoors too as I look very pasty for me - I'm olive skinned and tan quite easily so hopefully a bit of sun will help. Am I the only one who feels thinner when they've got a bit of a tan? If all else fails it's the fake tan for me!

    See you later...
    R xx

Morning all:D Isn't life fab when the sun beams down;) We are off to the first jumbo boot sale of the year (love 'em!) bargains galore, told H and DS to look out for WW or SW mags as have seen them before but never bothered to buy them but now... worth their weight in gold, we all go for different things, my DS could do with some trousers as now he has his heelys they get tears in very quickly, my H looks for bit for his trike and bikes, I can now look for smaller size clothes ( I just used to walk past the clothes knowing full well they would not fit me so this will be a treat!) and DS loves beano comics or power rangers, so we are always scanning the stalls for something:D

I am trying to resist the desire to have a BBQ as that means food that I do not normally eat so will try just to have the coleslaw I made and if the kids do keep on then I will make them a burger in the oven.....

The day is going to be terrif;) keep on smiling:D

Back from shopping and it wasn't too bad.
Th etrying on process definitely doesn't get any easier regardless of your size - especially with the 360 degree mirrors in M&S!
I'm at that infuriating stage of losing weight where one size is a bit big and the size smaller even though it does up and "fits" just looks a bit snug! I stayed on the side of caution though and stuck with the size 12 trousers instead of the 10 but restrained myself from going on a bit of a spending spree with the thought that if I buy loads now it won't fit me soon (hopefully anyway!) and will be a waste of money.
Even managed to resist the choccys and yummy biscuits in M&S - I WILL BE A SIZE 10!!!!!

Got two bargain pairs of shoes too - I think that the boots will have to be relegated to the back of the cupboard now as my feet are boiling!

Off to do some cleaning now - have a lovely day in the sun xx
