How do I resist the temptation of getting on the scales?? started SW last week and have stuck to it like glue! filling up on free food etc (mostly red days), but am convinced I can't be losing if I can eat this much!! i know that if I get on the scales and I haven't lost I'll be disappointed, but on the other hand if I get to Thursday and weigh in and I've put on loads I be back to where I started and worse!! Sorry for rambling........
Hi Debbie - you need to put your trust in SW and believe in it.
It's very tempting to keep checking your weight every day - you're not on your own, we've all done it! - but the trouble is, weight fluctuates, and the scales may show a gain midweek, but a loss at the end of the week, and after the midweek weigh in you're going to be depressed and think it isn't working.
What I would recommend is to keep reading the SW book so that you're confident that you really are following the plan 100%. When you've only been doing it for a short time it's easy to make mistakes that could affect your results.
You are doing the right thing by eating lots of free food as the most common mistake people make is not to eat enough.
Resist those scales!
Good luck on Thursday.

Sorry I've not been on this week - had lots of things to do in this week's Easter hols - and (hangs head in shame) i've not been a very good girl and eaten LOADS:mad: Weigh in at SW tomorrow so I'll let you know how much I've put ON - can't see what else it will be _pale_
But I've now given myself a kick up the butt and as an incentive I've actually bought myself a BIKINI!!! First one in about 30 years    Haven't got a holiday booked but I'm definitely going to wear it when I get to go on one. So to tone up and help lose this weight I've upped my exercise routine and added a couple more bits to it. I now do 40 full stretches to ceiling, two lots of 10 sit-ups, leg raises a few inches from the floor, holding each for 10 seconds (do 10), on side swinging leg at right angles and then up and down a little (not touching floor) 5 each leg, press ups from knees - 2 lots of 15 and my bottom walks. It takes about 15-20 mins to do and I can feel the tummy muscles working! Plan to walk to work in this lovely weather. 2.5-3miles (uphill to work) - should take about 45 mins, and 30 mins back home (downhill).
Did a model on that site - good fun - but can't post it across. I'll have to try again later - bit too late for me now - I'm getting a little brain-dead at this time of night."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
Hope you don't mind me joining in. Went to the gym today for my induction, boy am I unfit. Need to lose a LOT of weight, too embarassed to say how much. Have stopped buying choccie bars and putting money in savings piggie! Am serious this time, but say that every time.0

Hello everyone!
Sorry I've not really been around, OH has been on holiday so we've been out and about a lot. As a result of this I've not really been keeping to my points and at weigh-in this morning I have gained 0.5lb. Not bothered at all - if you'd seen how much I'd eaten then you wouldn't believe it's only half a pound!
I'm going to stick to the plan this week so should easily shift this (and more) - I'm also in training for the Race for Life, which will really help keep me motivated.
Well done to everyone who has lost weight this week, and also to those who are sticking with their eating plans even though there's the occasional disappointment!

Its too early, I have to go to London all week for a course  Leg still sore and blister still on my heel. No chance of going to the gym later either.
Still onwards and downwards, on the scales that is.
Have a good day all, catch you later

Good morning all. It's dreary out, much cooler and spotting with rain. Ah well, it may encourage me to do the housework I've put off in order to be outside while the weather's been lovely!!
Jojilufc the car boot is at the rugby ground in Castleford on the 22nd. It's usually huge and starts early (about 6am I think). It's not the Tiger's ground, but the one down the road from Whitwood college. Haven't been to one since last summer so I'm looking forward to it (bet it rains  ).
Welcome to the newbies and welcome back to MidgetKaren.
I'm going to stay on the right side of Petrichor in future, she scares me. Hope your DD survived the night :rotfl:
D3BB13 ditch the scales - they will not show a true reflection of what you're losing anyway. You need to be weighed once a week, same time of day and roughly the same clothes. Making a graph is a good way to see the downward trend of the scales.
1sttimer whoo-hoo a bikini....that's what I like to see, a girl with ambition and determination. Go girl!!!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Morning all
Been away for the weekend and missed my WI last Monday so today was the first time in two weeks. Got on the scales and got my first real shock since starting this last Summer I have gained 3lb
I cannot belive I have been that stupid I know I have not been good but I did not think it was that bad. I played 3 rounds of golf this weekend that is 12 hours of walking and hitting a little white ball in anger. Admittedly I did have quite bit of wine and Easter wasn't that good either. I really need the 1 day club but I feel so bad that my chart will now look like I have gained. Please Lois can you put me down for a 3lb gain I know it will look bad but at least I shall now be able to start again.
Not had a chance to catch up with you all hope you are well and enjoyed the fab weather this weekend. I was in Dorset I am sure it was well over 25.
Take care
