I don't know if this helps anyone but i don't see mine as a "temporary" diet its a complete change of lifestyle. I still have a few beers now and then and cakes etc but then eat less next day.. You can't just temporarily lose weight you'll be on some kind of diet for life.. And you'll feel more energetic and happy for it :) I do already keep going! If you feel you slip up one or two days just forget it and move on..

Ooh I've just been to pudding heaven!
Get a 400g tub of frozen raspberries (on offer £1 at tesco until the 27th). Mix a pint of sf jelly, pour it over the rasps and stick it all in the fridge until the fruit defrosts and the jelly's set.
When it's ready pour a rhubarb yoghurt over the top and top with three crushed mini meringues.
It's a HUGE pud, enough for two good portions (or one fat wap!) and the whole thing's less than 250 calories

    Hi All,
Quickie from me. Are we really at thread 11!!! Welcome to ALL the newbies. This bunch on here are a real inspiration, and the support and advice you'll receive is second to none. :j

Now for the weight loss vote from south lincs, ahem, a 1lb gain for me AGAIN! Grrr. It's been a bl**dy awful 3 weeks for me here, and the comfort eating has kicked in. What with the neuralgia (which is absolutely killing me on and off all day & night), I've had a bladder infection which made going to the gym uncomfortable, and I also have had some issues with trying to get rehoused, and other general stuff that gets us down from time to time.

I've got over the worst of the bladder infection, so am feeling perkier. The pain in my head is unbearable at times, and once the painkillers kick in I'm OK, but the drugs space me out (man!). That said, today is my DAY 1, and I'm back on the Slimfast to control my eating, which was getting worse and worse. No gym today, but will hope to get back in there on Wednesday with a vengeance.

Well done to all the losers this week - there seem to be more of you this week. I'm going to try to keep up with the thread, although it goes at a fair pace - page 4 already?! I found it hard to keep up when I was ill.

Jeez! what a whingy post! Apologies, and promise to try to resume to normal service from now on. There was one positive thing that happened, I got into my first pair of size 14 jeans in 17 years. Now admittedly they are a loose 'slouch' fit, and a Next Petite, which is quite generous, but nonetheless, it's a major achievement. I can't bear to take them off actually, and am scared to wash them in case they shrink!

Oh, and Victory a thought occurred to me; can you offer to take along a couple of dishes to 'help' contribute to the buffet? That way you could take a couple of healthy options, which everyone else might enjoy for a change too. Failing that, tell the SIL that you've suddenly developed food allergies and will have to bring along your 'special' food to prevent an allergic reaction. It's only a little white lie, the reaction could be to gain hideous amounts of MSG, E numbers and added pounds after all.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Hi all, can't believe we're this far into LW11!! serves me right for leaving it til night time to post, everyone else has been and gone!!

Well...i officially fell off the wagon, and i think i hit my head on the kerb when i did it coz something stopped me jumping back on and knocked all the common sense out of me! :( So i have been comfort eating, and not going to the gym..and basically now feel like a big lazy slug who just sits indoors feeling cr*ppy. I have to give myself a break as this was not all simply a result of laziness, i have been feeling poorly for about 2 weeks now and have been too scared to exhaust myself at the gym because my glands are up and my throat is sore (and i had glandular fever once before, so i'm terrified of it coming back!!) so i've been scared that it might get worse and i'd be to ill to do well im my upcoming coursework/revision/exams, and the stress of it all doesnt help when ur feeling ill!! I've got lots of coursework to do, and for some reason i have a strange reaction to essays...the second i have a deadline i have an immense craving for chocolate covered peanuts and raisins! which of course my darling oh buys for me in ridiculous amounts, because he is kind and wants to 'help' and cheer me up, so i munch and munch and then realise how much i've munched and feel awful!!! I am trying so hard to develop a new attitude to my work and my eating, but sometimes it's so easy to slip into old habits without realising quite how bad it is....a treat is ok now and then but scoffing down huge bags of pic n mix every day most certainly is not!!!

Sorry this has turned into a bit of a whinge. I'm really unhappy with myself as i know i will not get anywhere near this month's target now, but oh is helping by making sure i'm not too hard on myself as it will only demotivate me further...and to be honest i'd rather be podgy than have glandular fever right now and risk doing badly in my final exams!!

So, my kick up the bum has officially been administered (by myself) as i am feeling better now, trying to get enough sleep (haha yes i know it's nearly midnight while i'm writing this but i dont have an early morning tomorrow and a lie in always does me the world of good physically and mentally - i'm a 'night person' naturally, and i could sleep all day if it wasnt for alarm clocks!) and i'm going back to the gym on wednesday, and getting back into my routine. I am pretty sure i've put back on all the weight i lost but i wont know til i weigh in at the gym so i'm going to be super good tomorrow, and then see where i am on wed. I've got just under 3 weeks to get a little slimmer before the wedding i am appearing in (maid of honour) and before i fell off the wagon i wasnt doing amazingly weight wise but i felt great, and i'm sure i can feel like that again soon if i really do my best.

This has turned into a massive post, sorry!! just had to vent somewhere...and i really appreciate this thread for allowing me to do so... so thanks to all the mods for their work regulating the site, regulars and their wise words, newbies and their new ideas, lois for the charts, and honey for setting up the new thread...thanks everyone! (YES this is my Oscar speech!! The Oscar for stupidest fall from wagon, and longest whingey post! Haha!:rotfl: )

Hope Everyone is well and having a good start to the week! Well done all the losers!!!

sarymclary Sorry to hear you've been feeling so ill. The last thing that you need to think about when you are feeling so low is planning your meals and it is so easy to slip back into old habits. That being said well done on picking up a day one again and not giving up.

Congrats on the jeans!! Wonderful feeling isn't it :)

katmad99 You vent away girl!! That what everyone's here for. You've been feeling poorly as well? The exam deadlines coming up will definitely not help. Having just finished doing a part time degree; the memory of the pressure is still fresh. My weakness was for large bags of skittles and there was no way on earth I would enter the exam room without a tube of Rowntrees fruit gums.

You're both aiming to get back into good habits so best wishes for your success :)

[QUOTE=Gpuk;4717522Victory how come you've stopped drinking coffee I can't function without my morning wake up call!! :D

    [/QUOTE]

I had to stop milk, zinc and iron when I took the tablets for my ear infection a few weeks back which meant the only way to have coffee would have been without the milk, yuck, the tablets were for 10 days and within that time I drank water and loads of it...when it stopped I had a coffee and it did not taste very nice so went back to water and have been on that ever since...my H said I was addicted to it as the first thing in the morning and last at night was always coffee with bucket loads all the rest of the waking hours:j but I can't be because I do not miss it plus it is good for the bank balance as we used to buy Carte Noire which is £4.98 for the big one:eek: I really do not miss it and obviously was not addicted:j :j Water is a better alternative and I enjoy it...

Sarymclary..excellent idea expect I am the very worst liar there ever was....I could say I had a food allergy etc and when the questions start coming like which one? what tests did you have? when did you find out? etc etc I cave in...they might as well ask me directly if I am lying and I could then say Yes I am!!
I am going to contribute a few dishes and eat only those, I am sure my SIL would not mind and think it different to have some other dishes on the buffet as she religiously sticks to the same thing year in year out and to ease it I will make my famous fairy cakes for the kids only and that way SIL will be none the wiser about anything.

IFA...I hear what you are saying about this not being temporary and long term changes have to be reached, I hear all that but it sometimes does not transfer portion sizes, common sense, stop now from visual to plate to chomping!! The way I have dealt with that for now anyway is avoid, avoid, avoid!! No going out to restaurants, food places, anywhere where there is temptation!!
