Here's a question I'm sure you are all dying to answer - how are you going to get through easter and all those gorgeous choccie eggs!! I've already got 2 and although I plan to eat them slowly, I'm still going to be eating them! :EasterBun
I also gave up bread for Lent and can't wait to have a lovely hot cross bun
I don't expect to lose this week, I'll be surprised if I even maintain:o
Over excercise to compensate for the choc, eat all healthy apart from the choc and hot cross bun and maybe you might be surprised:D0 -
Lost 1 lb this week was hoping for a bit more but feeling very totm at the moment, feeling a bit knackered and run down, but my best mate is coming home tomorrow which makes me feel like   (she's been gone for 3 months working abroad) and we're off to have several nice lunches and then we have a wedding reception to go to.
I think i'll have a break and day 1 on the 16th april!!! :easter:
Hiya to all newbies and everyone else :wave:Goal weight....lighter than when I started0 -

It's Day One for me tomorrow, but I'm not going to weigh myself until Wednesday, in the hope that I can undo any damage I've done while I was away.

All this talk of Easter Eggs is making me very hungry. :EasterBun I am reminding myself that the chocolate in them never tastes very nice anyway. Do they use a lesser quality in them I wonder? No matter because I will not be having any anyway. There I’ve said it in public so I have to stick by it!
I am hoping to have a BBQ at the weekend. _party_ We have a huge garden so all our friends and family turn up on mass and feeding 80 people isn’t unheard of. Rather than the frozen gateaux that I would usually do I am going to make some big bowls of fruit salads. Shop bought coleslaw will be replaces with home made and my rice and pasta salads will all be made with the brown varieties. We always make lots of fresh kebabs so I should be OK with them. Does any body have any other ideas for large buffets that won’t blow the diet? I’d be very grateful for quick & easy recipies that I can prepare the evening before.
Victory – Your new hairdo sounds great. Thanks for sharing the dietician info with us. I have been maintaining on 1500 calories so I shall now try cutting to 1200. The quick spoonful measures is really helpful too. :j :j
Stilerin – You sure make slimming world sound tempting. I have looked on their website and though there are lots of people to testify that it does work I cannot find details of why. Do you have a good link that explains food combining you could post for me? I would love to know more about it. I am thinking of putting Mr Play2day on this regime but not telling him!;)
RozT – Half a stone is great.:T Respect to you for jogging for a full half an hour. I get breathless after 5 minutes  but I am working on increasing it.0 -
Welcome back Lois:j :j
Gpuk 1 lb is fabulous, you know it is all good:j :j
play2day how do you make your home made coleslaw please?
I was told by the nutritionalist you need carbs so new potatoes you could make in tin foil and you just have 2/3 small ones....wash pots and parboil until tender, drain, drizzle with just a little touch of oil, freshly ground black pepper and rosemary. Wrap in tin foil and put on barbie for 25 mins until golden brown.0 -
Here is another BBQ recipe-chicken lemon skewers...
4 chicken breasts, 1 tsp ground coriander, 2 tsp lemon juice, 10 fl oz of natural yoghurt greek fat free, 1 lemon, 2 tblsp chopped fresh coriander, slat and pepper.....cut the chicken into pieces for the skewers, add the ground coriander, lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste and 4 tblsp of the yogurt to the chicken and mix, cover and leave for 2 hours or over night.
To make the lemon yogurt..... peel and finally chop the lemon, stir into yogurt with the fresh coriander, leave to chill.
Put the chicken onto the skewers, cook on BBQ and serve with the lemon yogurt.

GRILLED VEG.....
1 aubergine/courgette/2 garlic cloves, fresh mint, red pepper, 1 small bulb fennel, 1 large red onion, 1/2 lemon, combine either cook in tin foil on bbq OR in a pan in the oven gas mark 6 for 25/30 mins or under the grill.0 -
Thanks for the recipe Victory. I love food with plenty of flavour so I will definitely give them a go. The potatoes and grilled veg sound particularly devine….
Diet friendly recipes for accompaniments I always do at a BBQ:
I like to add a bit of everything to my coleslaw. The basic ingredients are carrots, cabbage, onions and fat free dressing (if you haven’t got any dressing to hand try using 100% fat free greek yoghurt plus a good squeeze of lemon). I also add chopped apple, celery and depending on what it is accompanying some dried fruit or peppers. Season well. I don’t measure anything and use whatever is left in my fridge.
Home made pickled salad is diet friendly and goes down a treat at buffets too. It is really colourful and so looks tempting on the table. Baby sweetcorn, mangetout, carrots, pepper strips and mild chillies for the adventurous. Add some white vinegar then season to taste.
I sometimes do a couscous salad instead of rice, especially if it will be standing around for a while. Rice is one of the worst food poisoning offenders. I substitute the water in preparing the couscous for a flavoured stock or fruit juice and then add diced veg, peas and sweetcorn or for more a more exotic flavour apricots, peeled sweet orange segments and a tiny touch of grapefruit. For those with the patience of a saint this makes a good stuffing for tomatoes…..
The chilli beans mix that you can buy in tins does a fab pasta salad. Just stir them into cooked pasta and your done.
Tuna and sweetcorn make a basic pasta salad that all kids seem to love. Adding a dash of fat free French dressing stops it tasting too bland for the adults without overpowering the tuna.
Soak some corn on the cob complete with the leaves in a bucket of water overnight. They will absorb enough water to cook perfectly on the bbq.
Some cooked sweet treats to be served with fat free crème fraiche:
Cored apples with home made fat free mince meat in the centre – wrap in foil
Halved peaches, nectarines or apricots with a teaspoon of sugar free marmalade in the centre and sprinkled with slices almonds – wrap in foil
Halved and cored pears with a few summer berries – wrap in foil.
Pineapple rings with a glace cherry in are a favourite with the kids if you let them have some golden syrup on top before cooking.
Bananas in there skins are a popular bake with the kids too. We serve them with a few chocolate drops.0 -
Morning All
Gosh Victory, you sound even more positive than ever!! Can we expect 8lbs off next week :rotfl: Thanks for the insight re the nutritionist, I agree with her about the bread, I never waste money now on Nimble or WW bread(although I love the taste of WW Malted Danish) because it's half the calories for half the size and if you look at the calorific value per 100gms it compares favourably with other breads.
Play2day - What great recipes for side dishes :T I think that you should become the LW food guru. Please keep them coming as I seem to have a blind spot about these sort of things and just serve up the same things time and time again.
Well done Gpuk on your 1lb loss :j .... and RozT for 7lbs  It's nice to hear of different methods, I wish I had your energy:D .
Welcome back Lois  , hope you had a nice break, don't worry at the moment about being weighed.
I'm lucky in that I'm not too bothered about chocolate, I like a bit now and then (Flake) so for me Easter isn't a problem I'm glad to say, but a hot-cross bun is staring me in the eyes daring me to ignore it.
Got to go now as Davis Cup is just starting
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
