Hi all - I've decided as of last Monday to give WW a try. Over the years I've tried everything but I've never really given WW a go. I've been very MSE and i've found out online how many points I can have, I've found an online points calculator and I have started off with excellent intentions by buying lots of WW products (not very MSE I know as some are a bit more expensive than similar non-WW items, but I need to know I'm getting the point thing right to begin with!)
Something I wanted to check though - frozen Quorn fillets - the calories etc are given for 2 fillets and it calculates to just 1 point - is that right?
If anyone has any Quorn product points they can share I'd be grateful as I'm looking to make a list of products."Stay Wonky":D

Morning all:D just got back from the diabetic nutritionalist and she was very impressed:j I weighed 3 lb more on her scales so not happy with that:mad: anyway she says I should be on 1,200 calories a day (Lois take note!!) and should increase my carbohydrate intake to 2/2/2 oatsosimple, shreddies or weetabix is fine for brekfast, lunch if there is to be salad add 3 small potatoes or 3 spoons of pasta, if not 2 slices of wholemeal bread with cup a slim a soup is fine and evening lots of veg with 6 tablespoons of pasta or cous cous, rice and fish.
Did you know (diabetic food doctors do a lot of food conversions) that 2 plain crackers is equal to a slice of bread? I didn't that is why I went onto the crackers and cut out the bread;)
So the healthy eating plan is fine bar not enough starch, she also suggested I went onto the website and bought a low fat recipe book and switch the nimble bread to multi-grain seeded bread as it takes longer to chew, eat and digest than the plain wholemeal nimble one. I said it is higher in calories but she said it outweighs it by how longer it keeps you full in turn not having to eat more or snack (oh yes keep snacks to a minimum!)
If you get so hungry don't automatically go for cucumber slices etc go for unsalted plain popcorn (my H says I might as well get some cardboard and eat that!!)
Oh and last but not least (I get told this all the time!) to stop being so harsh on myself and being goal mad (getting rid of the last 9 lb) that it is fine to ocassionally veer off and I could have gone out for VD and MD and not done too much damage to the plan, that I need to relax more around food and enjoy the treat if there is one and not obsess;)0 -
Morning all
Keren29 - Notsure about quorn specifically but the formula for points is
cals/ 70 + sat fat /4. If there's no SF listed you just halve the regular fat an use that. Should make it easier for you in the supermarket.
I'm so excited about my lunch today - I've made a sort of bean pate:
Tin of cannelini beans, 3 tblsp passata, 4 sundried tomatos and 10 olives - about 2 syns for the whole lotBlended it all in the food processor and will have on toast
I also had some frozen smoothie mix (just strawberries and bananas) and will mix this with some vlf yogurt for a yummy desert
Someone mentioned that with SW you usually eat masses of free food to start with then your body adjusts and you need less. I've been amazed at how hungry I've been, am hoping the above is correct and I'll be eating a more normal amount - I'm getting fed up with comments about how much I'm eating (and not sure I can afford to eat like this long term!!)
Oh well, if it helps me get slim I guess it's worth it0 -
littlemisssunshine28 ............... I certainly believe that you can wean yourself off processed food, but it isn't instant.
When I first began SW I really couldn't believe that you really could eat as much free food as you liked. Having lived with more calorie controlled diets than you could shake a stick at, it just didn't make sense. For a few months I made loads of veg and pulse soup, going heavy on curry powder, chilli, pepper etc and could eat three bowls at a time. I would chop salad, raw carrot, mushrooms etc very small and mix with beans, brown rice or pasta and shovel it in from a pyrex mixing bowl. Ate loads of baked potatoes and beans with curry powder orcottage cheese withhorseradish or pepper. The theme was everything had to have a strong taste to last longer in the mouth. Fruit would disappear at 5 or 6 pieces a day. I also made sure I drank enough water.
I think the problem with calorie counting is that you are always thinking about what you are allowed to eat next. With SW you never do that, you just eat when you are hungry!!
After a couple of months I could really tell the difference between being hungry or just fancying something...... and because I still allowed myself the choice I realised that much of the processed food didn't actually taste as nice as I thought it did.
The first thing our consultant used to say to those who hadn't lost was ' are you sure you are eating enough? ' Your metabolism slows down when you lower your calorie intake too much which makes it harder to lose weight. So don't allow yourself to be hungry just make sure you have free food to hand.
Blimey, I sound as if I have shares in SW dont' I? Mind you, I wish I had a penny for every pound all the members have lost!!:D
Good luck over the weekend everyone, how ever you are tackling it.0 -
I am having such a fab today:D the kids are out playing, the sun is shining, I have had my eyebrows done and hair cut, wow I look good:D :rotfl:
I was going to have the Victoria Beckham look or Jade Goody (same very short at the back with long front flicks) but bottled it, to go from very long hair to that short:eek: so I have had it cut to the shoulder with lots of flicks, very choppy, it looks great, I feel like a million dollars and no chocolate bar could ever make me feel as brilliant as I do right now:D0 -
Victory that sounds fab! enjoy it, you've obviously worked hard for it!!
Stilernin - it's weird cos to be honest I rarely eat processed food - even before slimming world I made most of my food from scratch having rice, grains, lentils and pulses plus loads of veg! I can't really see that I'm eating much more nutritionally now - still 3.5lbs are missing from me since last week. I think the main difference is I'm eating more than I used to!!
I will keep at it -thanks for the ideas about food I will try making more and worrying less about how much I eat.
I remember when my friend started SW all her family kept commenting on how much she was eating - now she's lost 4 stone!! Hope a similar thing's happening with me (altho I'm only trying to lose 1!)0 -
So far I've lost half a stone :j without a proper diet regime (just by jogging for 30 minutes at a time - yes it kills me :P) and by not really eating anything that I shouldn't... well... limiting eating anything that I shouldn't
I could do to lose another whole stone... I must keep the momentum up so it's good to work as a team here0 -
Here's a question I'm sure you are all dying to answer - how are you going to get through easter and all those gorgeous choccie eggs!! I've already got 2 and although I plan to eat them slowly, I'm still going to be eating them! :EasterBun
I also gave up bread for Lent and can't wait to have a lovely hot cross bun
I don't expect to lose this week, I'll be surprised if I even maintain:o"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
