  • We got our second letter today with "Do not ignore" at the top of it. Just wondering how the people that got their first letter in August are getting on. Our first letter came in October so we are a couple of months behind you.

If you can show the letters as they come that would be very helpful. Yours was an August ticket was it - or what was the date of the INCIDENT (not the letter)? So you could help the forum information by sending a copy of the letters by pm to Crabman, who runs this thread:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2329119

As you can see, no-one has bothered to yet update the Highview letters beyond the first two, even though hundreds of people have posted about them and nothing happens except the letters!

If you can show a pic (either here on this thread or by pm to Crabman) as a newbie you won't be able to post a full link here so you will need to break it. That means just put a gap after the http part of the URL.

Many thanks if you can help with the latest pics, for other newbies. :)

  • When do these letters stop?????

I have ignored them as suggested and thought they would go away by now. I'm now on the letter offering reduced payment before I assume being taken to court, I think it's about the 6th letter!!!

"assume being taken to court"? I think not. That's yet another hollow threat by them.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Why do you think they are offering a 'reduced payment'?

It's because they hope to extort something from, even if it is less than they originally tried for. They are beginning to suspect you know it is a scam.

Carry on ignoring and the reward is a 100% discount. ie. They give up on you and instead turn their attention to an easier target.

Just compare your letter chain to the linked pics I gave in my reply above yours. You should just be playing a nice game of snap with these letters by now.

Even though Highview's letters are not all shown, look on the PPC letter chains thread for 'your' debt collector as listed with pics under any other PPC. The letters are all there and the reduced payment is one of the last gasp letters before NOTHING (not Court!!).

  • I got a similar ticket in Asda Livingston a fortnight ago come Saturday. It was because I never bought a parking ticket at all. To be honest I forgot that I was supposed to because until recently it was free parking. It's well signposted as a 'pay and display' though.

I was just about to pay the £40 until I saw this site. Even though I didn't buy a ticket (the contravention reason is 'No valid ticket'), I take it they still can't enforce this?

To be fair, the landowner is probably entitled to a sum representing what the P&D ticket would have cost, plus sundry expenses involved in chasing you for it. Maybe £5 or so.

However that doesn't justify a demand of £40 from the parking company. You could send the landowner a token amount, or ignore everything. Up to you.

    They cannot enforce it.

Do not contact the parking company at all. Easy mistake for you to make and why would you expect to pay to shop in Asda?

  • Yes im another one who has been caught with this scam .The signage is poor and its nothing other than a scam to make money .

HOWEVER , "ALMONDALE SHOPPING CENTRE MANAGERS" . WHERE DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO SCARE CUSTOMERS OFF BY FINEING THEM £75 ??????????????????

I have notified all on facebook and being i run two clubs , and with over 900 contacts , it seems word of mouth is the best way to damage this scam . I have also started to Email the retailers informing them of this situation .

THE OTHER THING IS WE ARE NOW IN THE CHRISTMAS SEASON, SO HOW MANY MORE ARE GOING TO GET CAUGHT ??????.

I HAVE CONTACTED THE CENTRE MANAGER , AT THIS POINT WAITING FOR HIS REPLY .

Im not paying them a penny , as this amounts to extortion (£75) for parking in what was a free carpark . As for me i wont be back to this centre or the other retailers ie Halfords and the others in the area . i could have saved diesel and money and went to Braehead ..

So my message to everyone is inform everyone you know about this scam , through twitter , facebook , etc . As this centre and retailers are the ones who employed these cowboys .
