<snip> And finally, "Your ability to obtain credit in the future may be affected if we have to take this matter to our solicitors for further action".

Have to say, was a bit worried about it a bit intimidating / threatening even.

"Your ability to obtain credit in the future [STRIKE]may[/STRIKE] cannot be affected if we have to take this matter to our solicitors for further action".

    Fixed that for them. :)

For things to actually get to this stage, the car park owner would have to take you to court and win the case. Then, you would have to refuse to pay, to get a CCJ issued after 28 days. Then, you would have to still refuse to pay, to get bailiffs appointed.

Not quite so intimidating or threatening now, is it?
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Hi,received updated letter advising Legal Action Pending . . . to avoid this being passed to our legal department . . . a further fee of £40.00 has been added. And finally, ""Your ability to obtain credit in the future may be affected if we have to take this matter to our solicitors for further action".

Have to say, was a bit worried about it a bit intimidating / threatening even.

Sounds familiar, seen it before, SNAPPITY SNAP! against several pics of template threatograms shown in the 'PPC letter chains' thread. You should just be playing snap with these letters by now seeing as we have a thread showing them all, as already advised several times on this thread alone.

Please look at the current forum, not just this month-old single thread. See my signature. Click once where my sig tells you in the breadcrumb trail at the top of this page (blue small link>chain).

Read the sticky thread second from the top 'PPC letter chains'. Watch the Watchdog clip linked on there and read the other links at the top. Check out the letter-chain pics so you know what to expect = MORE LETTERS! Just file the letters after ticking them off against the sticky thread mentioned, it's EASY.

I am an ordinary wife and Mum with a responsible job and clean credit record and I have ignored 2 fake PCNs. I would very happily collect more and laughed when I got both of mine. :)

It's only junk mail, nothing more. No more bothersome than deleting a series of phishing emails, honestly.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thats an interesting one, so if they go to the solicitors it will effect your ability to get credit, I would love to see how that is possible :rotfl: more complete and utter fantasy by them.

Don't feel intimidated as this is utter hogwash, just laugh at them for attempting to scare you into paying, you should be realising that if they had a case against you, they wouldn't be sending you templated letters with your name and address on, they would be on MCOL and sending a claim via northampton court.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • The standard bailiff's letters are now coming out for parking in Almondvale, even for only a few minutes over the 2 hour limit. As one who lives in Livingston we have several each now. Mind you, most are not mine, the car may be but others drive it on occasion. In each case it's £145 they are trying to extort.

We are being threatened with being taken to the County Court, which will be a neat trick in Scotland as there is no such thing.

This will be very scary for folk who don't visit this site.

By the way, Highview Parking's Duedil entry says:

Interestingly they are not related to the apparently family firm of Debt Recovery Plus Ltd.

  • Hi I have also received a charge notice for parking at livivngston, wish I had read this link before but I replied to them by email saying I hadn't received the first notice for £50 and was not willing to pay the£75 but would pay the original £50. Am I now bound to pay as I have been in contact with them or can I just ignore them from now on as everyone is saying to do, Thanks

You seem to have answered your own question there - Yes, just keep on ignoring them.

The recent law change does not apply in Scotland or NI and the basics have not changed anyway. All your having contacted them means is that they may assume you are taking them seriously and send you a few more letters before giving-up.

    So don't worry.
  • Thanks pogofish, my car was at a registered address in England at the time, would that make any difference, we have just moved here and are in the process of changing address details with dvla, thanks

Makes no difference just ignore them, they will likely write to you at your former address so make sure you forward your mail, if it bounces back to them saying not known at this address they may chance their luck with a claim.

  • We have just received one of these letter today too.

We live up the Highlands and take a trip down to the Amondvale retail park about 3 times a year.

Wont be paying the fine and wont be visiting the shopping center again. Would much rather go to a place that is up front about their parking charges than a place that hires cowboys to scare and intimidate people.

I am so disappointed as it was a great place to shop.

Like everyone else we will be ignoring the letter and I am very grateful for the advice given on here because although I thought we didn't need to pay I feel much more confident after reading this thread.

    Thanks everyone

Feel free to let the retailers know how you feel!

Roll on the day that they finally wise up to the fact that they are hiring companies to intimidate their 'customers'. They are not solving their parking problems. The reason being that the companies they are hiring are just after the money thanks very much. Solving parking problems doesn't earn them very much.
