Why the everyday make-up?

Just curious and maybe it's because if I ever wear it it's of the goth variety but why do so many folk wear make up every single day? I don't bother, I like my face the way it is added to which I've always found that an extra few minutes cuddled up to my OH is more fun :rotfl:
Not being nasty just really interested in why some people seem to feel the need to wear it all day, every day...................

Just because you are lucky enough to like your face the way it is, doesn't mean everyone is
I wear very little make up...(am just about to go out for the day with none on at all and I feel ok about it) but I know that I genuinely do look better with at least a little bit on. For work I tend to wear a very little light foundation, and mascara. And I look MUCH better with it than without it. I think as well it sort of indicates a difference between being out and productive and working, and lazing around the house.
I have had this debate on a different forum and it turned into a huge raging argument....but I will say here like I did there, though it may be controversial - I have never met a woman who didn't look better with a little bit of make up. There, I said it!!0 -
You could ask the same about why people wear makeup at all. Or why wear fancy shoes instead of plain trainers? Why not all wear uniform tracksuits and shoes so we all look the same?
Everyone has their individual tastes and if 'their' look includes makeup, what harm are they doing. I personally CBA but don't see anything wrong with it and don't think they need any reason other than because they want to.0 -
The same reason you wear goth make up and I don't ?
We're all individuals and do things differently ?
Other reasons
-some people don't feel "dressed" til they've got their face on.
-some people have birth marks or facial scars
some people work in jobs where they are expected to be "groomed" and that includes make up
some people just like it
some people don't want to cuddle up to your OH for a few minutes every day !
I think NOT wearing make up can be as much of an affectation as wearing too much -and don't understand why you'd want to judge people on that alone either way.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I wear it because without it I look ill. I'm not ill but my skin is sallow coloured and my eyes are dark. I get fed up of people saying I look tired when i'm not. I do go some days without make-up and i'll nip to the local shops without any on, so it's not like i'm obsessed with wearing it. Makes me look (slightly) better, or maybe it just makes me look not so bad lol0

I wear make up every day and Im a busy working mum of 2 small boys, I feel better with my make up on, its not heavy just some BB cream some mascara and a little lip gloss! It makes me feel more confident and gives me a boost!
Its not everyones tastes to wear make up all the time but we are all individuals and shouldnt think less of people who do the opposite of what we choose to do ourselves!0 -
I wear less makeup now than ive ever done but not a day goes by when i go out the door without wearing at least blusher, mascara and a bit of colour on my lips.
As you age you tend to lose colour from your face and develop flaws such as age spots and dark shadows develop.

Ouch!
I was being curious not nasty........
I work in an office is all and some of the women here are so larded in slap it's hard to make out their features :rotfl:
Lots of folk do look better in it I am sure but all that fuss first thing in the morning is way too much hassle. I mean I'm well dressed at work but only beacuse I lay my clothes out the night before lol.
Maybe I'm just lazy in the mornings :T0 -

I think its a real shame that so many women feel they need to wear makeup everyday to look 'acceptable' but I can completely understand why they feel that way.
There's a strange idea out there that without makeup you aren't 'professional', presentable', aren't 'making an effort' or any number of other things that make no sense.
Then there's the constant pressure to be the most attractive person you can possibly be at all times, look at all the magazines filled with pictures of celebrities with no makeup on talking about how awful their real, natural faces look, and these are the most beautiful women in the world, is it any wonder ordinary people feel the pressure?
There's also the fact that once you start wearing makeup every day its hard to stop, as there is a difference and yes most women do look more attractive wearing it, so its hard to adjust, hard to face the world with your bare face when you've had that suit of creamy armour on for so long, you'd feel self conscious and unattractive.
Its not the fault of the women themselves, its a society that tells us a woman's primary and most important job is to look good, first and foremost, everything else comes after.0
