Why the everyday make-up?

Who cares? What I would like to know is why some people care so much about how other women look? Mind your own!Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

No it is factual and since I get hassle from them for the fact I'm NOT wearing it I feel fully justified in saying so.
Again can I say I'm curious but not down on anyone for wearing/not wearing it. Just wondered that's all!
Also got comments for not having polished nails (maybe beacuse I spend my at home time chopping wood, gardening, playing with kids/animals etc :j)
You can say it as much as you like but your other comments and your tone and your little smileys suggest otherwise.0 -

I rarely wear make up – I would rather have the extra couple of minutes in bed!! Of a weekend I might put on a bit of mascara and eyeshadow to enhance my eyes but I hardly ever wear the works. Luckily I have a very nice complexion and rarely get spots.
My housemate on the other hand suffered terribly with acne as a teenager and even now has quite bad skin (which also has some acne scarring). She always has a minimum of foundation, powder, eyeliner and mascara on – if we have a night out she will wear more.
She works with the general public and she feels more comfortable wearing it, feels more confident when wearing it and more importantly she likes wearing it.
Personally, I cant survive without my lipbalm!!!0 -
I have often wondered the same as Zaxdog if I'm honest.
I don't wear make up on a daily basis. Not because I have perfect skin or am stunningly beautiful or anything like that, but because I work outdoors in all weathers and make up just doesn't work for me in the rain and wind, or (occasional!) heat. I also don't want to get out of bed until I absolutely have to in the morning... yes, I am lazy!
I worked with a young girl many years ago, who was very insecure about her looks. She was a lovely looking girl but wore a lot of make up which I didn't think did anything for her, but that was just my opinion (and I never said anything!) She said one day that she could not be seen without make up on. She would not answer the door if the postie rang before she was 'done up' in the morning and - here's the bit that made me feel sad for her - she would get up an hour before her husband because she wouldn't let him see her without make up. She said that in 3 years of marriage he had never seen her without make up.
Anyway, I'm not saying what people 'should' do, that's not for me to say, but personally I don't like the look of strong make up, but I do like a little natural looking make up. I don't know if I had an office job, if I'd wear it every day though.0 -
I think men should wear make up! As another of the goth persuasion, I like my men to wear some eyeliner.

I rarely wear make up now as I'm at home all day looking after chickens and the house, but occasionally if I'm feeling in need of a boost, I will put a bit of eyeliner and lippy on.
I don't think there was anything wrong with OP's question. I often wonder why a lot of women wear so much make up that it looks like they've put it on with a trowel and then drenched themselves in a gallon of perfume that gives you a headache if you're stuck in the same room as them.0 -
Doesn't bother me what other people do or do not have on their face. As long as they feel comfortable, live and let live.
Personally, I like a bit of natural make-up and do wear it every day, unless I'm working nights or travelling. I look a bit better with it on, so why not?
I do disagree with jobs that mandate women to wear make-up. Do air hostesses still have to? It should be personal choice.0 -
I wear make up most of the time if Im leaving the house, but I love playing with make up, trying out new looks. Its something i enjoy, but am perfectly confident without it. I simply wear it because I love all the ways I can look different, I love the process of applying it.
You say that when you wear make-up it is goth make up, which is part of your personality and differentiates you from other people, well its the same for all women who wear make up, we all like to display ourselves as we wish to be perceived. xWon 2012:Bobbi Brown Mascara / TRIA System

I wondered this too in my twenties. Hit 30 and realised I looked a lot better with a little eye makeup. Hit 40, developed rosacea and realised I needed to wear foundation every day or look kind of scary. So the full face habit kind of snuck up on me. I wouldn't say I can't leave the house without makeup - nipping to the shop, going to the gym etc. But I wouldn't feel comfortable at work or going into town without at least covering the rough spots.
I think this is something you understand better as you get older
