Why the everyday make-up?

I normally wear a bit of make-up for work, just because if I don't, people tend to ask if I'm feeling OK - my mate even said the other day I looked a bit rough :rotfl:Whole routine takes me less than 5 mins.
I get a bit exasperated with people who say they'd rather have the few extra minutes in bed to be honest - what difference is 5 mins going to make to you? I get this with my boys. Then again I hate wasting time sleeping and am up at 5.30am most mornings.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

I don't wear make up every day, I have acne and scarring all over my face, it looks horrid but putting make up on makes my skin feel like it can't breathe.
I used to not wear make up to work - maybe a little bit of eyeliner and mascara but one review I was asked to wear make up and 'nicer' clothes (I am 23 and my confidence is rock bottom - this made it 10 times worse) because they said 'I am a pretty girl and shouldn't let myself go'I work on the reception desk of an IT company - we don't often get visitors but when we do I make sure I dress nice etc - everyone else is in jeans and hoodies

Life is too short not to love what you do.0 -
I seem to wear less makeup now that I did in my teens & 20s, although I suppose I was more fashion conscious then. I'm fortunate to have clear skin but on a daily basis I do wear a little eye liner and lip balm or lipstick.
I think it's nice to make an effort if going out somewhere special, in which case I would wear more eye makeup. I would hate to look the same every single day with loads of makeup on - then people think you look ill if you don't wear it one day. My partner's sister is like that - full face of makeup every single day, even for the local shop! Also I knew someone who used to draw on her lips with lipliner every single day - always looked very unnatural as they were outside her natural lipline. Popped round to see her one day when she was ill - no lipliner on - she looked so much nicer with natural lips!0 -

I think that's a bit patronising.0 -
I wear full make up every day - even to go to the shops because, frankly, I'm a dog without it! I'm also a bit of a dog with it but hey ho......
Although my friends and workmates tell me that it doesn't look like I wear make up as it's quite subtle. Despite being the full works.0 -
In some professions it is expected that a woman will be well groomed, and part of the perception of 'well groomed' is natural looking makeup (not the thick slap of a teen girl going clubbing)
Whether we agree with the perceptions or not, they exist and I comply with those views in order to fit the 'professional' profile. I could turn up without makeup and would not be sacked or disciplined but don't want to sit in meetings where others are wondering why I didn't bother. That is my world and I'm happy in it.
I wear concealer (15 seconds to apply), mineral powder foundation (2 minutes), mascara (30 seconds) and brow shading (2 minute)... so all in it takes about 5 minutes for makeup.
It's the other stuff such as my cleansing routine which takes about 5 minutes and hair dry and shape at about 15 minutes that adds in the time... along with shower and hair wash and conditioner.
OP - you wear 'goth' makup sometimes... why? To fit that cultural group? To express yourself? Why not just accept that some others wear their makeup because they choose to do so... for their own reasons and not for your benefit.:hello:0 -
I don't get it either tbh the only make up i ever where is mascara and lip-tint and thats only when i go to work as i work on a till so alway make a effort, I've always believed your skin doesn't benefit from muck being put on it and the only times i get spots / bad skin is if i wear more than i normal do.
My little brothers gf always wears tons of make up but she is so pretty without it makes me rather sad she can't see it.0 -
I think men should wear make up! As another of the goth persuasion, I like my men to wear some eyeliner.

*goes off into a little fantasty involving men in eyeliner*Aaaah - thanks for that Gigervamp!
I love make-up and have bought way too much this year, but I just CBA wearing it every time I leave the house - I wish I could really, it does make me feel better. But I just don't care enough. I only wear it for a night out and that doesn't happen all that often, but on those occasions I do wear the full works.
As for what anyone else does, I really don't care as long as they're happy!0 -
I like to have a bit of tinted moisturiser on my face in a morning, it evens out my skin tone and makes me feel a whole lot better. I do have quite acne prone skin so a bit of a cover-up makes me feel better. Oh and I love my eye liner (goth at heart I have tonnes of the stuff)One Step at a time0

Ooo yes, me too! I even thought Timothy Spall looked better wearing eyeliner in Sinbad the other night. I was already a bit hyped up though as Elliot Cowan's in it and he's absolutely gorgeous!!Over futile odds
