Shows what wine does CM, I knew I lost an hour, which means I may stay in bed later, but forgot which way :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'd better leave the clock movements to DH eh!Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Snowy, i see you're online. How did it go with the wardrobe man this morning? Hope you got the result you wanted. As for w*rk, you stick up for yourself and don't take any rubbish from them. ((((((hugs)))))))anyway, no matter how right your cause it's still tough!

Silly silly question but if you start this thread does the description of what it is about follow automatically - the bit about the ` over the garden fence` chat?0

janb5, no such thing as a silly question! It doesn't insert automatically, last time I started the thread i just cut and pasted from the previous day's thread. Don't know if it's kept anywhere else to get it from. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

JanB - there is a sticky at the top of the Old Style board called "Important Notices for Old Style". Post number four (or five maybe??) contains the post which is supposed to be copyed and pasted if you happen to be starting the daily on a particular day. I know that sometimes I've forgotten to paste the introduction a few times, and as if by magic it appears by itself later in the day. (I do believe our guardian angels ie pink-winged, squeaky and gingham ribbon may have magical powers with regard to the opening post...).
Churchie, hiya! The furniture man came this morning as arranged. He moved the support for the hanging rail from the bottom to the top of the side panel, and had some spare doors with him and swapped over the mismatched one. Funnily he thought the wardrobe was very well put together - you could tell he was gasping in shock that a mere girl could perform such a feat. However I burst his bubble when I said that I had guests last weekend and the bloke did it.... Not that N.Ireland men are chauvanistic but he have that "ooo I might have known" look on his face. BTW it was AussieLass's OH who did the hard work, mind you he made it look easy as he just got on with it with no fuss and knew what bits went where without any palaver.
With regard to w*r* Churchmouse, I'm going to send you a PM with the gory details...had posted here but I think I said too much so removed it. Sorry...suffice to say I feel like I did nothing wrong, but I am in for the high jump anyway...0 -
The recipe for the spiced sweet pastry goes as follows (mods, feel free to move this to the recipe board if you wish) :
For a pie that involves both top and bottom pastry ....
8oz self raising flour
4oz butter
2oz demerara sugar
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg
Make up as you ordinarily would for pastry, but be very sparing with the water so that it comes up as a paste, as opposed to a dough.
Its a bit of a nightmare to handle, as it splits and breaks very easily, but when you're lining the pie dish or laying the top cover over, if it breaks or splits, its very soft so you can stick it back together again by giving it a bit of a squish. (That's the technical term for it.).
For the fruit pie I made (plum and apple), I blind part-baked the base, then added the fruit, laid the top cover over, pierced the middle to let the steam out, sprinkled a little sugar on top and baked at 180deg for 20 mins or so.
It is very light and soft when it first comes out of the oven, but then as it cools, it becomes crispy and more shortbread-like. Yummy!:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0
