Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Satuday 24 March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
I have been asleep, honest! I just didn't quite make it to bed
Good morning everyone I hope you are all well and enjoying your hunks
Honestly, I'm of line for a couple of days and when I come back it looks llike everyone has traded in their OH's for hunks. Can I have Johnny Depp or a hunky fireman please?

This week was really tiring and I was so relieved it was Friday that when I got home (after celebrating the fact that it was Friday down the pub) I sat down on the sofa for a bit (dangerous) and fell asleep! (predictable).
Woke up a while ago hungry, thirsty and desperate for a pee. And now I'm wide awake. I wanted an early start today, but not quite this early :rotfl:
Can't do much yet as it will disturbe the sleeping neighbours but might sort out some more seeds and put a cardamon loaf in the BM for yummy toast breakky. Hmmm, obviously I'm still hungry!
Coots are now beginning to "toddle" and poor mum is having a right job keeping them tucked under her out of the cold. As fast as she tucks one little fluff ball back in the nest another one pops out and toddles off looking for Dad and the grub. Dad has taken to yelling for me to feed him "fast food" while he dives for baby food. He stuffs a bit of bread up against a twig near the nest and grabs a bite every time he passes it. The pressures of parenthood
Today I want to paint my stable bucket hanging baskets ready for planting. I just hope the rather odd planting plan I have for them works! I'm hanging them over the canal side, at the bottom of the terrace rail so they will appear at ground level for me but hanging baskets from the towpath. I've got some climbing nastersiums as well as a few sweet peas to put at the back of the buckets, so they will hopefully grow up through the rails. There are lobelias for the front and an assortment of stuff, including herbs, in the middle. We shall see what happens.
I did try to read yesterdays thread but something kept distracting me
so hugs to all who would like them and I hope everyone has a hunky Saturday

Morning everyone
Early start here too. Got one DS watching Dora the Explorer and the other crawling on my knee as I type. Missed all the hunks yesterday - darn! Got to go and read through the thread if I get time!
Think we'll take the kids to the farm this morning (it's a working farm but they are open to visitors and have a playground, shop etc), then I am taking the boys off to my mums for a couple of nights to celebrate her birthday. So I'll see you all in 2-3 days.
Donna, hope you get on oK at footy - that other mum sounded like a nasty piece of work

Morning all,
It is habit getting up at half 6 now, no lie in for me.
Just having a brew - got a busy day planned, although I'm not 100% sure what with. Sorted out the washing, put one load in the WM.
Need to go to town today as my airer broke this week - again. So back to Argos to give it back, then think I'll get one from Wilkos. Also need to go to the bank as they seem to have forgotton I have a £200 overdraft limit and charged me loads of fees for being £25 overdrawn
The weather is really nice, so I'ld like to go somewhere with OH, but I'ld also like to get stuff done here, like the menu plan and shopping. Decisions, decisions.
Have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

Hi there everyone,
OH has gone off early to the beach for some bait as he wants to go fishing at some point over the weekend. So guess who only had an hour or so lie in today? 6.05 am all I hear are the two eldest going 'shhhhhhhh! don't wake mummy up!'
First thought was why??:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:no choice really but to get up.
We are low on meat today so we will be off to the local butchers this morning, and we need a small shop from Lidl to see us over the week.
I have pm'd you Racy with a hunky fireman, Johnny Depp is spoken for I am afraid as AIME said.
I found last night a very handsome hunk mixing up a cake in a bowl which covers his essentials - like a calender picture. I will bring him out for an airing if you all like!;) He is being very OS after all.
Oh well off to organise a shower for them and then some breakfast.
To all in need of one today.

morning all
its a lovely sunny day here so i think i will take myself off to the library in the next town to look for some of the books mentioned here
then it will be back to clean the house before a walk later
racy i love hearing about the coots and its lovely you feed the parents, i like to do that too as i think it gives them more time to feed their young
are the coots safe enough? my stepmother used to get upset when the ducklings hatched on the pond in their village as i think it was the seagulls who would go away with them
thanks pink i am just back from reading yesterdays thread and thanks to catowen and churchmouse also for their hugs and thanks to kyle who went a walk with me though she was tired
you are all lovely xx
hope everyone has a good saturday xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Twink, The things that Churchmouse said in yesterday's thread are very true, you are so lovely and supportive to us all. Hugs for you.
Charlies_mum, It was lucky for the little pup that it was your garden they dumped him in. He looks adorable and I hope you find him a good home soon.
Lil_me, I hope Holly feels better soon and that ds isn’t too upset.
Donna, I hope that woman doesn't give you any grief today.
I'm just heading out to work and not looking forward to it at all. I have a new girl shadowing me today to learn the ropes and I hate being stuck in the car with a someone I don't know, but she sounded nice on the phone so hopefully it won’t be as bad as I think. It's going to be a heavy day. We're a team of twelve, but at the weekend there is only a skeleton staff of three………so it'll be non stop. On top of that we lose an hour this weekend so it will be a late night followed by an early start on Sunday. They really are throwing her in at the deep end!
Ok moan over. On a more positive note…….
I got quite a bit done yesterday. Went to my Homestart family in the morning and then came home and cleared out the medicine cupboard which was beginning to unnerve me because the contents were falling out and causing further injury to anyone who opened it…..the only thing that's bothering me is how did we manage to collect four tins of Vaseline? And what on earth can I use them for? In the afternoon I did some cooking and made two cottage pies and a lasagne for the freezer. I was feeling quite smug until Mr Pink came home and asked what was for tea.…it was only then that I realised I'd completely forgotten to make anything for tea!
Ok, I'd better get a move on….
I hope you all have a good day.
